MATTIA'S POV:

I slowly opened my eyes, hearing people around me.

"He's waking up!" someone shouted. I fully opened my eyes to see Kairi standing above me. A bunch of nurses and doctors came over to, all of them telling me to stay laying down, breathe normally.

"Where's Olivia?"

They dismissed what I'd said but Kairi looked at me, confused as to why I'd asked about her.

"Okay, Mr Polibio your vitals are back to normal, you're free to leave when you like" said the Doctor.

"Thank you" I said, watching as they all walked out. Kairi came over to me, still looking puzzled.

"She lies to you twice, yet she's the first person you think about when you wake up?" he said, putting his hands in his pockets.

I knew he was right, but I couldn't deny the fact that I still had feelings for her. They weren't planning on leaving anytime soon either. But the way we left it, she probably hates me by now.

"Do you know where she is?" I asked, logging into Instagram. Kairi shook his head, returning to his phone. As I scrolled through, a picture caught my eye. It was of the sunset, on Mar's profile. The caption read:

Sunsets are always better with you around ❤️

The fuck is he talking about? I swiped across to the next picture to see Olivia. Wearing his jacket. A wide, genuine grin spread across her face as she stared back at me. It felt like a slap in the face. Maybe it was what I deserved for the way I spoke to her. But it still fucking hurt.

"Maybe she's-"

"With Mar" I sighed, clutching the phone in my hands. Kairi came over to see the picture, pulling a face of disgust.

"Mar's fucking weird, she's definitely using him" said Kairi. I shut my eyes tight, remembering how she used me. But I wanted to believe we had something, there was no way Mar was about to take that away from me with some weak ass picnic.

OLIVIA'S POV:

I'd managed to forget about Mattia these past few days. He never bothered to call or text, which gave me the peace I needed, to confirm we were back to strangers. The mission was no longer my responsibility and I had Mar to focus on. Everything felt like it was finally falling back into place.

I finished up my makeup and got into a pair of jeans with a purple hoodie. I looked outside and saw Mar's car pulling into my driveway. After grabbing my phone, I made my way downstairs, bumping into Dad.

"You're going out, honey?"

"With Mar, yeah" I said, kissing him on the cheek before walking towards the front door.

"I always preferred Mattia over him" I heard him mumble under his breath. I pressed my lips together in annoyance.

"Be back soon" I called out. I closed the front door and walked over to Mar's car.

"Hey beautiful" he said, flashing me a smile. I returned the smile as I put my seatbelt on.

"Hey you" I said, leaning over to plant a kiss on his lips. His fingers travelled through my hair as he pulled me closer. Mar pulled away, looking at me with lust in his eyes.

"The backseat has never looked so inviting" he smirked.

"I'll take one hot dog with ketchup and mustard" said Mar, looking back at me "you sure you don't want anything?"

I shook my head, looking around the fairground. There were so many couples around, considering it was a hearts themed carnival. It made me wonder what Mar and I were, but I wasn't ready for that answer. Everything was going so well and I didn't want to kill his vibe over a question.

MARIANO'S POV:

I held her hand, my hot dog in the other, as we walked through the fairground. She looked particularly beautiful in the moonlight.

"This place is so loud" I yelled over the music, she nodded in agreement, keeping her eyes ahead. I sensed she was uncomfortable and got rid of the rest of the hot dog.

"Hey" I said, taking both her hands so she was facing me. She gave me a tired smile, but I could tell she wanted to get something off her chest.

"What's wrong?" I asked, looking in her brown eyes. She hesitated before speaking, furrowing her brows.

"It's just.."

She started speaking but something else caught my attention. Standing only a few metres behind, Mattia was staring right at us. In a black hoodie, standing next to some friends, but he was uninterested in what they were saying. His focus was pinned on us.

"You know? Like what are we-"

I cut Olivia off by grabbing her face and smashing my lips against hers. Her eyes closed, but she tried pulling away from the unexpected kiss. But before I could let go, I had to make sure he was gone.

I opened my eyes slightly, satisfied to see him walking towards the exit.
