OLIVIA'S POV:
We'd spent the past two days in our secret location, which ended up being in Thailand. I'd warmed up to Mattia more after what had happened, even though I had no idea how I was meant to avenge Mar.
"Why don't you join my mafia?" asked Mattia. We were all sitting outside watching the sunset. I glanced at Dad before giving my answer, and he subtly shook his head.
"I'd be no use to you" I said, letting out a nervous laugh. But the boys were insistent that I joined NJ13.
"You don't have to do anything, it'd just be good to have you around" said Kairi. I shuffled around in my seat, trying to avoid looking at Dad.
"Yeah I mean you've already been to the house, what else is left?" Alejandro added. I swallowed, but my throat was dry.
"You went to their house?" said Dad, plastering a smile on his face. I nodded quickly, and the grin on Alejandro's face vanished quick enough.
"Olivia, a word" said Dad, getting up and walking back inside the house. Alejandro mouthed "sorry" to me, as the other two glared at him. I walked inside to see Dad stood in the kitchen with his arms crossed.
"Well?"
"It was one night, nothing happened"
"I can't believe you slept in their house Olivia, you messed up the mission and now you're sleeping in their house?" he said.
"You literally said you liked Mattia more than Mar, I don't see the problem?"
There was a long pause before I finally realised what all this commotion was about. Dad looked at the countertop, his briefcase was there. The zip slightly opened so you could see the red folder inside.
"This is about the deal, isn't it?" I said, watching as Dad nodded his head.
"Have you made a decision? Resuming the case is what's best for you, maybe if you get enough information on Mattia, we can move onto his second in commands, Kairi and Alejandro"
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I hadn't told Dad that I was raped by Mar, only a week ago. I hadn't told him about how I was still feeling mentally exhausted after everything that'd happened to me. I hadn't told him about the PTSD that I was suffering from because of that night.
"That was never the deal" I said firmly "the deal was that I decide whether to resume the mission, it has nothing to do with Kairi or Alejandro"
"So? Are you?"
"No!" I said, a little too loudly "I don't want anything to do with it anymore"
Before Dad could say anything, we heard the door open and turned to see Mattia standing there. He looked angry, and I could only guess that he'd heard the conversation. And taken it the wrong way.
"You're still undercover?" he said, looking directly at me. Dad looked at me as I shook my head knowing hoping this wasn't going to end well.
"Mattia, hey" I said, walking over to him quickly. But when I got closer to him, he stepped back quickly, looking from me to Dad.
"Are you undercover?" he repeated.
"No Mattia, I promise I've quit"
"But what deal were you talking about?" he said. I sighed in annoyance, he wasn't going to believe anything that came out my mouth.
"It was just if I wanted to resume-"
"And do you?" he asked, his hands curling into fists.
"No I don't!" I yelled "just listen to me!"
But Mattia moved his hands away from me, and looked at me, more in a disappointed way.
"I can't trust you" he said quietly. Dad walked out the room as I locked eyes with the ground.
"Why not?" I asked. There was a gap between us, I felt so far from him. He was slipping further and further away from me, and it was no longer in my control.
"I just.." his voice trailed off as he tried to find the words.
"Mattia, I swear I've got nothing to do with the FBI anymore, I'm different now" I pleaded, but it didn't help my case at all.
"I just think we should spend some time apart" he said slowly. But my heart dropped at the thought of never seeing him again, or even the boys.
"What? No, we can fix this"
"I just think we need space, Olivia" he said, walking towards the door.
"Who's Olivia? I'm Liv" I said, forcing a laugh, but he didn't turn his head. I watched him leave and soon Dad came back. He had a regretful expression on his face, but there was no one I wanted to be with right now.
"They're leaving in the jet" he said, taking a seat. I kept my mouth closed as Bella walked in. She looked more vibrant compared to a week ago.
"Alejandro asked if I wanted to go with them, back to New Jersey, but do you need me?" she asked, looking at me. I sighed and gave her a small smile.
"No, go home, I'm sorry for ever getting you involved in this" I said, giving her a hug. She left the room and made her way out the house.
"Now what?" said Dad, looking at me with his head in his hands. I thought about it for a second, trying to find a bright side out of all this.
"Let me be an Undercover Agent again"
Dad's eyes lit up, but then turned sad when he heard what I'd said.
"But, look how that turned out, I don't think that'll be the best idea, just find a new job" he sighed, standing up.
"Please, Dad" I insisted, blocking his way.
"I promise I won't fail this time"
