OLIVIA'S POV:

"Mattia she's getting closer" I said, watching as Maria started walking towards our car. We had two minutes maximum to figure out a way to stay alive.

"I know, don't panic" he said, turning off the engine and keeping his eyes on the wing mirror.

"Don't panic? She has an AK-47 in her hand"

"Shut up for a second, Liv"

I looked at him like he was crazy and shook my head. I turned my attention back to the mirror and watched her as she aimed her gun at the car, immediately piercing bullets through the windscreen.

"Fuck this" I said, leaning my body out the window as I started shooting in her direction. She ducked and ran behind a wall to take cover quickly. I looked around for more soldiers but I guessed she was the only one in the car since it was empty.

"Liv what the fuck?" shouted Mattia, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Get out the fucking car whilst she's out of view!" I shouted back at him. He sighed angrily and ran out of the car, going to hide in front of the hood.

"Dumbass" I mumbled, catching sight of Maria's white blazer coming out from behind the wall. I carefully took aim, and pulled the trigger hoping that I'd caught her leg.

"Fuck you!" she screamed from behind the wall. I smiled with satisfaction and got back in the car, switching to the driver's seat. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw two more soldiers hiding behind Maria's car with something in their hands. I took a closer look and my stomach twisted when I recognised the small circular objects in their hands. Grenades. I waved at Mattia to get his attention but he shook his head.

"Not now" he mouthed. I narrowed my eyes and rolled down my window but that only annoyed him more.

"Shut the window" he ordered, keeping his eyes on the wall hiding Maria.

"But-"

"Shut the fucking window" he whisper shouted.

"I'm trying to help-"

"Liv!" he shouted loudly, causing me to jump. Honestly, we were putting on quite a show for Maria and the two soldiers with our bipolar attitudes. I took it upon myself to save the day and opened the door, but before my feet could even reach the ground gunshots started going off all around me. I covered my head quickly and felt a bullet skim past my ankle, cutting open my skin.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" yelled Mattia, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me down beside him. I groaned in pain and held my ankle as the others stopped shooting.

"This is why I told you to stay in the fucking car"

He reached up and opened the hood, pulling out a first aid kid and looking for the bandages.

"There's-"

"Just keep watch, Liv" he said, ignoring me and wrapping my ankle. I pressed my lips together and took a breath to stop myself from screaming at him. I leaned forward and took ahold of his chin, tilting his face up to me. He took a sharp intake of breath as he looked in my eyes and the anger disappeared from his face.

"Now that I've got your attention" I said "there's two soldiers behind Maria's car and they've got fucking grenades"

His face dropped when I mentioned the last part and I nodded my head.

"That's why I got out out the fucking car, Mattia" I said, pulling my ankle away and taping it together quickly. He took ahold of his gun and took his position again, finally catching sight of the soldiers.

"What do we do? We're cornered" I sighed with my back to him as I looked out to the right side.

"You tell me"

"What?" I said, turning to face him. He causally shrugged his shoulders.

"This is the mafia lifestyle, now get used to it" he said firmly, turning back to Maria. I looked back at the soldiers and snuck around the side into the car. I saw Maria run out from behind the wall and Mattia immediately started shooting in her direction, but managed to miss her completely. I sighed and put the car into reverse as she ran towards Mattia.

"Now!" he yelled, as I pressed on the gas. The car shot backwards in her direction and I felt the impact as she let out a shriek. I looked in my windscreen and saw a soldier drag her away and Mattia ran over and got into the car.

"There's still one more" he panted. I turned around just in time to see a grenade fly through the sunroof and land on the backseat. The red light started flashing rapidly on it and without thinking I reached down and picked it up, throwing it back towards Maria's car within a matter of seconds.

"Get down!" screamed Mattia, covering me with his body as the grenade went off, causing everything around us to shake. I opened my eyes and we were surrounded by thick smoke and everything smelled like fire.

"What the fuck" I breathed as we slowly sat up. Mattia shook his head in disbelief and peered behind us through the smashed windscreen.

"Are you okay?" he asked, checking my face and neck for any marks. I nodded, my throat dry as fuck.

"Lets just leave the car here, I'll call Alejandro to pick us up" said Mattia , getting out the car. I followed him, limping since my ankle was still hurting. Mattia noticed and scooped me up in his arms, allowing me to wrap my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck. I opened my mouth to argue but instead sighed and leaned on his shoulder, I'd had enough for one night.

"You never finished your story from earlier" I mumbled into his shoulder, staring at all the damage we'd caused.

"You never gave me a good luck kiss" he replied. I tried not to smirk at his response and instead moved my face closer to his, looking closely enough into his eyes to see the caramel sparkle that caught my attention in the first place.

Before he could say anything else, I pressed my lips against his, cupping his cheek with one hand. He tightened his grip around my waist as he kissed me back, ignoring the people around us who walked by. I controlled the pace with my tongue, feeling electricity rush through me as his hands travelled under my hoodie and his skin made contact with mine. Much to his disappointment, I pulled away, tilting my head to the side when he pouted at me.

"Did we really just catch a body and now we're here making out?" he said, continuing to walk. I laughed and rested my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes.

"Don't get used to it" I said.

"Don't get used to what? Killing people or making out with you?" he asked. I rested my chin on his shoulder and smiled at his sarcastic attitude.

"Shut up, idiot"

"I'm your favourite idiot" he said in my voice. It took me a second to remember the night I got drunk in the living room, and I cringed when I remembered my conversation with him.

"That you are, Mattia"
