"It's due on November 25," I calmly reminded, slipping the library card below the desk which had cabinets containing every library card---whether they were still functional or from years ago; Then I handed her the book.

She flashes me a smile, nodding along the way while she grabbed the book off my hold and onto her small, tiny hands. "Thank you. Have a good day!"

I knew it wasn't much, but just her saying that somehow made me slightly happy. Like those sayings where you always greet people---even strangers because it might easen their mood. I flashed a small smile. "Have a great day too."

Then she left, waddling like a penguin---well it was adorable anyway.

Back to work--I guess. I sigh, taking a seat and feeling my stiffened back relax. Working in the library taught me something. First : there are still some kids appreciating physical books; for  all I know, they're mostly out there on social media probably trying to act like mature teens on their profile pic. Second : I get to see how people work. I mean there's this old lady who would frequently visit. On Mondays she'd just read a magazine. On Wednesdays, she'd borrow a book that was some book from the 1970's-ish (romance type) Then on Fridays she'd just sit and converse with the children visiting the library and before I knew it, she'd be there reading to them stories.

While it is policy to remind people not to speak too loud or make unnecessary noises to help keep the peace and crap, it was wholesome so I let it slide.

Then there were those children that would most often visit at Fridays since school was over for that week. I take it they're mostly the introverted kids or smart children that would like to broaden their knowledge --but that's just stereotyping them.  It's like before I knew it, these people somehow revolved my life--whether they knew me at all or not.

That brings me back to my current predicament; Oskar hasn't came to school for two days and even in his job. Now our boss was rather kind and calm, but I don't think she'd overlook it if this just kept happening. He might lose his job and well, it doesn't affect me in a way--but still,  I'd be lonely  here or I'll probably get a co worker who'd only came to work when the boss was nearby.

He wasn't sick; that was the most obvious lie of them all. Second, it wasn't because of what I said. I just know it. Why would he be absent for two days just because of my carelessness? I bet it would be that his parents and him got into a heated fight again. Or maybe he was getting tired to even bring himself to go to school.
