Don't wanna hear about it

Every single one's got a story to tell

Unfortunately, the summer break was ending rather quickly and we were back to school. Not that it was that bad, but I wouldn't have minded to continue living in my own little place for a while longer, especially since it meant that Shouta and I could spend a lot of time together in the evenings.

But there was no use complaining, anyway. We had finished half of our time at UA already, so it wouldn't be long now until we'd be ready to go out into the world and just live our lives and do our jobs. Until then... well it would be a lot of joint training for us, it seemed. Which kinda sucked.

We were yet again on the outdoors training grounds with class 2-B. I had no idea why our teacher loved joint training so damn much, because I just found it really exhausting. It would be nice to just have regular training with our own class for a change. But it was what it was. No point complaining.

"Yo, yo, yo, what's up Shou? Those goggles look the same as Oboro's, yo!" I heard Hizashi shouting from a distance. He seemed to be in unusually high spirits today, apparently his summer break had been pretty good. He seemed to be pretty happy with his agency and his work study.

Oboro wrapped an arm around Shouta's shoulders and pulled him close, grinning widely at Hizashi. Shouta seemed a little taken aback by that, giving Oboro a confused look, but not even trying to struggle to get out of the hug.

"Yep! We're marketing ourselves as a team!" Oboro announced. Shouta raised an eyebrow at him.

"No, you said these were to protect my eyes, for my Quirk's sake..." he protested quietly, but it went under when someone came walking up to us. I already knew who it was from the way he stomped.

"What'd you say? Claiming to be just like me? And stealing my idea?" he shouted at them angrily.

"Oh, it's Sensoji from class B. Who would've thought." I muttered and rolled my eyes. We all were just as annoyed to see him. It was a good day when he'd just leave us alone and let us be. And that happened rarely.

"What's this charmer want from us...? Just like him? As if." Oboro scoffed at him. I chuckled a little. It was good not to be all alone against Sensoji, even though the four of us were constantly picked on by him.

"My Quirk, Blast, is all about flashy rapid firing, but I got a little problem with accurate aiming. Wearing these shades keeps my own blasts from blinding me, though. Giving me a major accuracy boost! All 'cause I realized how important eye protection is." Sensoji announced proudly. Shouta turned to me, looking almost desperate.

"I'm on his level? Really?" he said quietly. I burst out laughing. As if. Shouta would never sink that low.

"Hang on! You guys oughta know that this guy decided to copy my sunglasses shtick when we teamed up for our work study!" Hizashi protested. He looked absolutely shocked at what Sensoji was claiming.

"Oh right. You guys wound up at the same agency." Oboro commented, as if he had forgotten it. Maybe he was in denial about it. Somehow Hizashi had to go and get along with Sensoji for the entire summer break and I had no idea how he had managed to put up with this guy.

"Since I'm so generous I'll let scum like you take inspiration from my brilliant idea, but... straight-up copying? Not on my watch!" Sensoji said, shaking his head and crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"That's some selfish logic." Oboro said, shaking his head. Shouta just sighed and turned away from him.

"He's just picking a fight. C'mon, ignore him." he said, walking away from him. Which was probably for the better, because our teacher had just arrived and he'd most definitely blame us if anything was to happen.

"Alright everyone, quiet down and pay attention, gather up!" he shouted. We quickly all formed a line, getting ready to hear what he had in store for us today. I couldn't wait to get this over and done with.

"Today we'll be doing two on two battle training. I guess... I'll pick the teams again?" the teacher announced.

"Question! Since me and Shouta are doing our work study together, can we partner up here, too?" Oboro piped up, pointing at Shouta. Shouta just nodded, not looking very enthusiastic about it.

"Great idea! Leverage that real world experience. If any of the rest of you are in the same boat, prioritize that partnership." the teacher announced. Well, that was good. At least I wouldn't be partnered up with someone terrible. The worst thing I could imagine was having to partner up with Yuki. It had happened once or twice before and both times had been very unpleasant.

"HEY TEACH!" Hizashi suddenly shouted with his deafening voice. I winced, wondering why he always did that without warning. It was probably just him getting over-excited or something.

"Yesssss, Yamada?" the teacher asked, already sounding annoyed with Hizashi. I could imagine why.

"I say no thanks to partnering with Sensoji, 'kay? I'm feeling like a change of pace today." Hizashi announced. Sensoji didn't look too happy with that, he looked pretty annoyed about it.

"That's too bad. Your 'pace' doesn't concern me." the teacher announced. Poor Hizashi. Well, it was just for today's lesson. He'd survive it. After all, he had survived the entire summer break.

But all of that just meant that I was supposed to partner up with Maiko. Which wasn't bad, I didn't mind it at all. I really liked Maiko, she was fun to be around and we worked well together.

I was just a little concerned about who we'd be up against. I was pretty sure that the teacher wouldn't put us up against either Shouta and Oboro or Hizashi and Sensoji. He liked to pit them against each other for some reason. He generally enjoyed pitting us against the people we got along with least.

"Alright, is there anyone who is left over and has not teamed up yet? Anyone left over where there are three people at the same agency? Come on up here and I'll team you up." the teacher announced.

I made my way over to Maiko, who was already waving at me. It felt kind of weird to work together with her, after we had been working together the entire summer break, already. Like, what were we supposed to do? Talk about a strategy? We had our tactics and strategy down to a T.

"Hey, hey, how are things?" Maiko greeted me. I shrugged. I had just seen her at work yesterday.

"They're okay, I guess. This feels so weird, man. Almost feels like we didn't really have a break." I told her.

"Well, we didn't really have a break. We worked through the entire break. Except for you, you went on vacation." she said with a light chuckle. I sighed. Yeah, that was the only break I had gotten and while I enjoyed working at an actual agency and spending time with Shouta, I felt like I should have appreciated those two weeks of vacation more. But you only ever appreciate what you have when it is gone, apparently. Well, it was too late now. We had to go and fight again.

"Yeah, anyway, what's our plan? Our strategy?" I wanted to know. Not that we really had to talk about this, but... still.

"Same as usual?"

"Yeah, I guess. Same as usual."

"Alright, let's do this then. Shouldn't be too tough, depending who we're up against." Maiko said with a smile. I nodded.

"Alright! We've got all the team-ups ready and we're going to get started. First up are Aizawa and Shirakumo against Yamada and Sensoji!" our teacher announced, breaking up our strategy session.
