56 Just A Girl - No Doubt

I had no idea what I was expecting when I was walking down the hallway all on my own. I had stayed behind way longer than usual, cause I had to finish an assignment and I needed access to the school library or I'd never have been able to focus on anything. So I was pretty much all on my own here.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much at all, because... who the hell would be staying behind at school for that long? The guys had literally said their condolences to me when I said that I had to get that assignment finished. It wasn't like staying behind in school was a thing that was done.

So of course I got a fright when I was suddenly jumped by someone that was exceedingly taller than me. My panic reaction kicked in immediately and I... well, I froze up. I know, with all the hero training I should have had more of a fight reaction, but... well, I wasn't expecting it.

At first I had thought it was one of my friends, probably Oboro or Hizashi, because... well they'd be the ones doing something like that. But none of them was this tall, not even Oboro. Whoever this was, compared to me they were an absolute giant. And it seemed to be a girl, too, because once I had managed to turn around I had boobs in my face. Very, very naked boobs.

"What the..." I muttered, before looking at her face. What was a third year still doing at school this late?

"What's up, nerd?" she asked.

"Kayama-senpai?" I replied, completely dumbfounded. She was just standing there and grinning at me, as if I was supposed to know what she was planning to do. How did she even know me?

"That's me." she answered with a grin.

"Okay, and?" I wanted to know, the gears in my brain turning rapidly, as I was trying to understand this new twist of fate. Kayama-senpai. Was talking to me. She was infamous at UA.

"Why don't we walk home together? I think we live in the same direction." Kayama said to me.

"We do? I... I don't know, why would we walk home together?" I asked. This was so weird. What did she want? This was Nemuri Kayama. This was the girl that Oboro was crushing on. Hard.

"I have a few questions to ask. Nothing weird..." she said with a big grin, before chuckling. "Well, nothing too weird."

"O... kay..." I replied. At this point I was pretty sure that I had no other choice than just wait for this to be over, because Kayama could probably knock me out within a few seconds. And I didn't wanna find out if I was right about that. So I just followed her outside the school, as we walked back towards my home.

"Why were you even still in school that late?" I asked, after we had spent a few minutes walking beside each other quietly. All this quiet time was making me nervous as hell and I really didn't like it.

"Just had some stuff to do for my work study, paper work and what not. What have you been doing? All by yourself? I thought you and Aizawa were inseparable." she replied with a smirk.

"Had to finish an assignment and Shou had to help Oboro with something. What is this supposed to be?" I wanted to know. This was getting weird. Was this some girly friend thing or something?

"Right. I've been wondering about you guys. Heard you all haven't found a work study yet. That true?" she asked. I sighed. Of course. Of course, everyone knew about that and was gloating over it.

"Yeah, that's true. Neither me, nor Shouta, nor Hizashi, nor Oboro have found a work study yet. But we're working on it. We'll get there. At some point. Hopefully." I said to her, hanging my head low.

"Well, if you can't find anything soon, just hit me up, okay? My agency literally takes anyone in."

I looked up at her when she said that, wondering whether she was actually serious or not. Why did she want to help us? It seemed a little too good to be true, if I was being absolutely honest.

But when I looked up I saw her smiling at me. And she didn't look like she was going to give me a hard time about not having found a work study yet. She looked like she actually cared and wanted to help all of us out. What the hell? She was like... UA royalty. Maybe not royalty, but she was absolutely infamous. Everyone knew who Kayama was. She had a reputation.

"Uhm... T-thanks? If... if you're serious about that, that is. Are... are you actually serious?" I asked.

"Of course I'm serious! Why so distrustful, huh?" she replied with a lough. I don't know what it was, but I could kind of see why Oboro was crushing on her so much in that moment. She just seemed really genuine with the way she talked and smiled and just... carried herself. It was weird.

"I dunno, people can be real assholes." I muttered. She grinned at me and shook her head quickly.

"Nah, people are alright. 15 year olds are assholes." Kayama corrected me. I shrugged and kicked a pebble.

"I guess so. So was that all you wanted to talk about? I'll make sure to let Hizashi, Shou and Oboro know..."

"Cool, thanks. But that wasn't all. I've been meaning to ask about Oboro, actually." Kayama said.

If I had been drinking something at that moment, I 100% would have choked on my drink. But thankfully, I wasn't drinking. Still... Nemuri Kayama came to me - me - to ask about Oboro? Oboro Shirakumo who has had a huge crush on her for the longest time? This was too good.

"Oh sure, what do you wanna know about him?" I asked, trying not to sound too excited. If the two of them actually ended up going out... that would be absolutely amazing. It would be legendary.

"Oh, you know... just what kinda guy he is? I've been noticing him around the place lately." Kayama said, waving it off nonchalantly, but she did look a little nervous about asking me this. Fascinating.

"Uhm... he's really nice. Has his own little apartment, which is usually where all of us crash if we want to hang out... he's a total mom friend. Like, he is the mom of our group. Very loyal, always prepared except for tests in class... always knows how to cheer us up. Big smile." I told her. I wasn't really sure what exactly she wanted to know about him, but she nodded pensively.

"Okay... okay... sounds like a nice guy." she replied. I glanced over at her. Her eyes had a really dreamy look to them. Oh. My. God. Did she...? No way. There was no way that she actually...

"You got a crush on him or something?"

"What, me? Oh. No, no, no. Not at all. Just... intrigued, that's all." she answered quickly with a slight blush on her face. I was freaking out inside. Nemuri Kayama was blushing. This was phenomenal. I couldn't wait to get home and text the guys about this interesting development.

"Oh. Okay. Well, uhm, I gotta head this way now." I said to her, pointing at an alleyway that would lead down to my house. She looked up, as if she had only now realized I was talking to her and then quickly nodded.

"Oh, yeah, sure. See you at school tomorrow, I guess." she muttered and waved at me. I smiled and waved back. This felt strange. Were we friends now? Or what was the deal? And more importantly, was she into Oboro? I quickly got out my phone and opened it to the group chat we had going.

I wasn't even sure how to start telling them. Oboro would freak out and Hizashi would probably scream and burst someone's eardrum. Dear God.
