Oh, do I deserve to be?
Is that the question?
The rest of the week went by pretty calmly. Our teacher seemed to be taking it somewhat easy for now, but the PE lessons were still killing me. But I figured I'd just ignore the pain and pull through, after all I doubted it would get any easier over time. Thankfully I wasn't the only one struggling at the beginning. There were a good few kids that weren't doing too well yet.
We had also learnt about each other's quirks the first day. Of course I already knew what Yuki's and Hideko's quirks were. Yuki could freeze up anything she touched and the longer she touched it, the thicker the ice got. Hideko's quirk was much scarier. She could shoot tiny particles out of her hands that were basically microscopical blades that would slice up anything in their way.
She had accidentally used it on me once, when she first got the quirk and it hurt like a bitch. I had little cuts all over my shoulder. It did make the two of us become best friends, however, in some weird trauma-bonding way.
One of my classmates that seemed to have a perpetual grin on his face could make clouds that were dense enough to carry things. His name was Oboro Shirakumo. I thought it was a pretty cool quirk. Shirakumo was sitting in the seat in front of me and had quickly become friends with both the loud blond kid (his name was Hizashi Yamada) and Aizawa, although Aizawa didn't seem too enthusiastic about that friendship. He didn't seem enthusiastic about anything.
Aizawa's quirk was a pretty unusual one, too. And news of it had spread through the school like wildfire. He could erase other people's quirks by looking at them (which didn't work for mutant type quirks, but any other quirk). Honestly, a lot of people were really freaked out by that. I had heard people calling it a "villain's quirk" and "lame" and "useless". Personally, I thought it was a pretty interesting quirk. I was too shy to talk to him about it, however, especially with Yuki and Hideko clearly disliking him.
It was Friday and we were just having lunch in the canteen. My whole body hurt from the PE lessons and training every day. It felt like it was too much to lift my chopsticks to my mouth, but I knew I had to eat or I'd collapse soon. I don't think I had ever been as hungry as today after hero training.
"So, girls, guess what?" Yuki said with a big grin on her face that looked like she had unearthed some otherworldly secret. Honestly, it was probably pretty mundane, but Yuki loved gossip and she loved knowing things about people, so all of this was extremely exciting to her.
"What?" Hideko asked, her mouth full of rice. It sounded so funny I almost choked on my own rice.
"You guys remember Sensoji? The guy from the school next door?" Yuki asked. I grinned at her.
"You mean that guy you had a crush on all through middle school, even though he's not attractive whatever way you look at him?" I replied. We all remembered Sensoji. He was exactly the kind of guy Yuki would find hot, but I just... no. I had no idea what exactly my type was, I just knew that this wasn't it.
"Oh shut up, I think he's kind of good-looking. I mean, we better not mention your taste at this table, right?" Hideko said and winked at me. My taste? What the hell was she on about? I raised an eyebrow at her.
"What about my taste?" I asked her.
"You couldn't stop talking about that scrawny guy in middle school. What was his name again? Hiroshi? Hirota? Something like that. Anyway, that guy was as freaky as they come and you loved it." Hideko answered with a big grin on her face. I looked down on my rice and blushed a little.
