We passed upon the stairs
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
"Hey, nerds." Hizashi greeted us with a big grin, as soon as we opened the door to the rooftop.
"Hey, loser." I replied, rolling my eyes. Hizashi calling us nerds was rich. We were all bringing home above average grades, but his grades were even better. He could easily surpass Tensei Iida, if he put in some work and stopped getting this distracted. But Hizashi wouldn't be Hizashi if he were to do that.
"Hey, guys!" Oboro shouted, his mouth full of food. Oboro was absolutely insane when it came to food. He just... He just kept eating. Everything. He was basically annihilating food, but he never gained any weight whatsoever. It was sickening, really. I hated watching him eat.
"Hi, everyone. Any luck with work studies today?" I asked the two of them. Their mood dropped immediately. Damn it. I really shouldn't have asked. I should have known better than that.
"You get three guesses." Oboro muttered (as good as muttering worked for him with a full mouth).
"Hm... I think I'm gonna go with no." I said.
"Bingo!" Oboro replied. I sighed and sat down next to them with Shouta, before getting out my lunch.
"What about you guys?" Hizashi wanted to know. Shouta just shook his head quietly as he opened up his lunch box.
"Nothing." he answered.
"This fucking sucks." Oboro stated in frustration, finally with an empty mouth. Made it much easier to understand him.
"I know it does. Bet everyone else already has a place and it's only us few that are left over..." I sighed.
"Nah, I know that Maiko hasn't found a place yet." Hizashi replied, as he started slurping a can of soda.
"Really? Doesn't she have a physical Quirk? Plus, she's extremely good when it comes to the media side of things." Oboro said. I nodded. I was surprised as well. Also, how did Hizashi know this?
"Yeah, I dunno, apparently she got invited to a good few interviews, but she gets really anxious and she ends up botching them. That's what she told me, at least." Hizashi answered with a shrug.
"Yeah, I can see that. Whenever we had to do group presentations or anything, she got really nervous and asked if we could present for her. It's weird how she's so good with the media, but is so scared of stuff like that." I agreed. Maiko and I had kind of bonded a little more lately, so I had gotten to know her a bit better. She was really nice, I had no idea how we hadn't been friends from the start.
"Who is Maiko?" Shouta asked, looking a little dumbfounded about the fact that we all knew this girl.
"Oh Shou Shou..." Oboro just sighed with a big grin on his face, while Hizashi looked at him incredulously.
"Girl from our class. She's nice. Remember when we were sitting on that bench during summer camp? She came out and asked if we wanted ice cream? Do you remember that?" I asked.
"There... there was someone else there?" Shouta replied, obviously confused. I chuckled and shook my head.
"Yes, Shou. There was someone else there. How do you not remember that?" I laughed and leaned against the wall of the school building. I could see Hizashi still shaking his head in disbelief.
"Well, maybe I only had eyes for you." Shouta muttered, before taking a bite of his lunch and chewing it with a grumpy expression. I could hear Oboro and Hizashi cooing and laughing at that.
"That's really cute, Sho." I said and leaned over at him, pressing a small and gentle kiss to his forehead.
"You're really cute..." he muttered and blushed a little, looking away in embarrassment. Oboro punched his upper arm.
"Man, Shou, you know just the right thing to say, huh?" Oboro asked and laughed, before starting to eat again.
"I don't know what you're talking about..." Shouta just mumbled, continuing his lunch. I sighed.
"Do you have any ideas what kind of agency you wanna go with? I have no idea what I wanna do... I just applied to pretty much everything that's out there." I told them, wondering whether I was the only one without much of a plan. Honestly, I had no idea what I was going to do with my life.
"No idea. There are a million things I'd like to do and they all sound like so much fun! It's so annoying we have to decide on one thing." Hizashi quickly chimed in. Of course he'd say that.
Hizashi was insanely extroverted and his Quirk was super useful for pretty much anything. He honestly had it easy, if he could just manage to stay focussed on one thing at a time. Which he couldn't. And that was probably the reason why he hadn't found an agency yet. If he had even started looking...
"I'd love to go to a battle-oriented place... I don't know, it just seems really cool." Oboro replied.
I could see him do something like that, even though his Quirk seemed more like a rescue type Quirk. But he was good in any fight situation as well, so he probably wouldn't have any problems to find a place. The only reason he might not have found anything yet were his grades.
"What about you, F/N?" Hizashi wanted to know.
"I have no idea. I just wish we didn't have to go through this entire process of applying and they'd simply assign us to an agency. The way it is now it kinda sucks for everyone who isn't flashy enough." I replied with another sigh. Shouta nodded solemnly, because he knew. He was having the same issues I was having - not having a flashy Quirk. Not really having a clear idea.
"You'll find something, I'm sure. Your Quirk would be so good for getting intel! You could spy on practically anyone and it could easily make or break big missions. If you find the right niche, you have huge potential." Oboro said, trying to cheer me up. But that was just the thing.
Anyone had great potential if they managed to find the right niche. The problem was the whole process of finding the niche. Hero society wasn't great at creating niches for the people that didn't fit in. And what usually ended up happening was that their niche became crime.
"Yeah, well, if not I'll get expelled or something..." I muttered and started eating my lunch. God, this was such a depressing topic to talk about, I had no idea why I started this discussion.
"You know what I wonder?" Oboro asked and sighed with a dreamy smile on his face. I raised an eyebrow.
"What do you wonder?"
"I wonder where Kayama is doing her work studies. Imagine I could do my work study at the same agency." he replied and grinned widely, giggling to himself. Dear Lord. He was a massive simp for Kayama, wasn't he?
"Come on, as if that's ever going to happen!" Hizashi exclaimed. Oboro sighed and then grinned at him.
"Well, I can dream, can't I?" he replied.
"You sure can, Oboro. I just wouldn't count on making that dream a reality." I said with a smile.
"Well, it worked for you and Shou, didn't it?"
"Yeah, but that was different." I said. Shouta just nodded, while he was still busy chewing his food.
"Yeah. (F/N) and I were both losers. Kayama isn't a loser. Face it, your chances are slim." Shouta said.
