I'm high as a kite
I just might stop to check you out

This was it. U.A. High. The hero course.Class 1-A. I had made it. I could barely believe I had made it. And it was only by pure chance that I got in. The entrance exam this year was - thankfully - not only geared towards the physical quirks. So me and a few other kids actually had some resemblance of a chance.

I also had no idea what I would have done if I hadn't made it. My two best friends had amazing quirks and it was almost guaranteed they'd get into U.A. It would have been really lonely without them around. I was planning to walk to school with them, but both their parents were driving them to school, so I was left to walk on my own. It wasn't too bad, it gave me a chance to listen to some music before school would start and it would make it more endurable to meet a bunch of strangers.

U.A. itself looked kind of terrifying. It was this big, towering building. It looked imposing. Honestly, the closer I got to it, the more nervous I was getting. I knew I wasn't great when it came to physical strength. My quirk was Illusion and it was pretty strong, but if someone came at me with full force, I would probably be done for. But hopefully I'd learn how to deal with that here.

Still concerned with being the greatest failure to ever get into U.A., I walked in through the main entrance, hoping I wouldn't get lost trying to find my classroom. We had gotten a map of the building and I had taken a picture of it, so I could just check my phone...

"Hey, hey, hey, (l/n)!" I heard someone shout from behind me. I turned around and smiled widely when I saw my two best friends from middle school walking towards me. Their names were Yuki Oyama and Hideko Ken. I knew Hideko since we had both been in elementary school. Yuki became our friend in middle school. I was so scared that one of us wouldn't manage to get into U.A. and we'd be separated and stop being friends, just because we weren't hanging out all the time anymore.

"Yuki! Hide-chan!" I shouted and waved at them as they quickly caught up with me. Hideko gave me a hug, as if we hadn't seen each other for a month, even though I had literally slept over at her place a few days ago.

"We thought you'd already be in class! How come you're so late?" Yuki asked. I shrugged, not sure what to tell her.

"I don't know. I guess I was nervous and got a little lost on the way. But I'm here now. Do you know how to get to our classroom? I have no idea where we are." I admitted. Hideko chuckled.

"It's literally around the corner, (f/n), you dope." she said.

"Oh. Right. Let's go then, before all the good seats are gone" I suggested, following them towards the classroom.

When we arrived there, our dilemma was clear pretty soon. There were no three seats next to each other in a row. The best we could get was two seats in the back row and one seat the row in front of that.

"Let's get those three seats before they're taken." Yuki suggested and shrugged, walking towards the three seats.

"Who's going to take the seat in the other row, though? That's not really fair, is it?" Hideko asked, as we made our way through the class.

"It's alright, I'll sit there. Doesn't bother me." I replied with a smile. And I honestly didn't care. It was just for class anyway, so it wasn't like we were separated by this the entire time. I put my bag down beside my little desk and sat down in the chair, quickly glancing over the room. Maybe around half the students were there already. There was someone in the seat between me and the wall.

It was a boy with shoulder-length black hair who was lying on top of his desk with his eyes closed. Was he... was he asleep? What the hell? I took a deep breath and decided to risk it. I nudged him carefully, trying not to wake him too suddenly. He startled and looked up at me in confusion. He didn't look happy, either.

"What?" was all he asked.

"Uhm... is it okay, if I sit here?" I replied. He shrugged and laid back down, closing his eyes again.

"Sure, whatever."

"Cool, uh... I'm (f/n) (l/n), by the way."

"Shouta Aizawa." he mumbled in a sleepy voice and then was probably fast asleep again. I turned back to my two friends, my mouth open. This was the strangest encounter with another person I had ever had in my entire life so far.

"Is he... is he sleeping?" Yuki wanted to know, giving Aizawa a weirded out look. I shrugged, unsure of what to say.

"I... I guess so?" I replied.

"What a freak." Hideko commented, shaking her head. I looked back at him and gulped. God, I hoped he didn't hear that...

"It's not that weird to be sleeping before class, Hide-chan." I said. Yuki raised an eyebrow at me.

"Yes. Yes, it is weird. Anyway, his quirk must be the shit if he got in looking that scrawny." Yuki replied.

"Oh my God, Yuki, stop being mean!" I protested. I felt kinda sorry for that boy sitting next to me. I mean, it wasn't just that they were being kinda mean about someone they didn't even know, I was also sitting next to that guy and had to put up with him and I'd rather be doing that on friendly terms.

"Chill, he's out cold anyway. Why are you so concerned about that guy anyway? Got a crush on him?" Yuki replied. I rolled my eyes. Yuki was my friend, but some days she could be a real bitch.

"HEEEEYYYY LADIES! That seat still free?" someone suddenly shouted deafeningly loud. I turned around and saw a boy with blond hair standing in front of me. He had the biggest grin on his face, his hair was gelled up into a high hair-do and he was wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket over his uniform.

"Uh... yeah, sure." I answered as soon as I could hear myself think somewhat clearly again. That was loud as hell.

"Awesome!" he said and sat down in front of Aizawa who either didn't wake up from that or pretended to still be asleep so he didn't have to talk to anyone. Honestly, at this stage I could sympathize with him.

I looked back at Hideko and Yuki who shot each other annoyed glances and then looked at me. What the hell was that weird look about? I decided to ignore it and lean back towards them.

"Man, we're in the middle of the freak brigade, girls." Yuki remarked, shaking her head. I shrugged.

"Come on, it's not that bad. I'm sure they're fine." I said. Yuki shrugged and nodded towards the opposite corner of the classroom.

"Should've sat over there, that one guy is kinda cute." she mumbled. I looked into the corner she was nodding at, but I couldn't see anyone that looked even remotely cute. There was one very tall and bulky guy there and I knew that was kind of Yuki's type (even though I strongly disagreed).

"What, that guy? Muscle dude?" I asked her incredulously. She nodded.

"I mean, your taste is way off, Yuki-chan." Hideko commented.

"Whatever, I think there's something about him." Yuki said dreamily. I didn't say anything. The only thing I could have said was that he looked like a douchebag to me. And I should soon find out how right I'd be about that.
