Tryna make ends meet, you're a slave to money then you die

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down

I had lost all sense of time when I woke up. The entire last night was kind of a blur. I did remember everything we did, but it seemed like it was so far away and a million years ago. Now, in the morning (or rather afternoon), everything just seemed so different. Maybe it was a hangover or maybe it was me being tired or a combination of both, but I had just crashed completely.

I had been staring at the ceiling for ages, before I turned around and looked over at Shouta who was still fast asleep next to me. We had gotten home around 8 in the morning and had napped for an hour or so, before getting up for some food and a shower (together) and then we went back to bed.

We were both absolutely exhausted and somehow everything just felt weird and off and it just wasn't the same magical feeling as the night before. I wasn't sure what exactly it was. Now that it was daytime it just seemed like everything was much more uncertain again. Sure, Shouta and I had planned what we wanted to do, but in reality... well, we didn't really have a plan, did we?

I sighed and ran my hand through his hair, which caused him to turn around and mumble something half-asleep, before pulling me close again, his arms wrapped around my waist. I don't know why there was this sudden doubt about everything creeping into my head right now.

And it just made me feel bad that I was doubting everything so much. I hoped I was just down for now, because I had been up all night and was exhausted, but at the same time it was worrying me. I don't know why. I just didn't want to think about it anymore, but all I did was keep worrying and worrying and worrying. I looked back at Shouta who was sleeping peacefully.

Was it really the right thing to try and make this work with him? Was being a hero really the right thing to do? I felt like I had just finished high school but just wasn't at all ready for whatever came next. All the responsibility that came with it just made me feel really anxious about life. Sure, there was more freedom, but there were also so many other things to take care of.

What if we wouldn't be able to pay the rent? What if we'd lose out jobs? What if we'd get injured or anything? What if we fought and separated? How would we even be able to survive? Would we be able to budget our money if we moved in together? Neither of us even knew how to cook properly! Neither of us knew how to fix household appliances or how to do the laundry or... or anything. We didn't know anything at all and it was scaring me to just dive in.

"Ssh... why are you shaking?" I heard a sleepy voice muttering. I looked down at Shouta, who tugged at my arm, motioning me to move closer to him. I had been shaking? I hadn't even realized. But I knew that I felt like I had to start crying any second, but I just couldn't cry.

"What's wrong?" Shouta asked again, slowly opening one of his eyes and then the other, before blinking at me. I moved closer to him hiding my face against his chest and nuzzling into it.

"I don't know. I don't know, Shou, I'm scared." I mumbled. It felt weird to admit that to him, but... I had no idea who else to tell. I just hoped he'd understand what I was so scared about.

"Come here. It's okay. Why are you scared?" he said quietly, holding me tightly and running his hand through my hair soothingly. It was actually helping me a lot, but I just still felt so... lost.

"I'm not sure. I... I just thought about... about how we're supposed to go and work now and... shouta, we just finished high school. We don't know shit. And we're supposed to go out there and... and do hero work and manage a household and be able to take care of ourselves? No one ever fucking taught us how to do that, Shou, I just... fuck, I'm just scared."

"It's okay. I'm scared about that, too."

"You don't seem scared."

"Yeah, but I still am. I have no idea how to do anything. All I have is a cheap studio apartment in the city with nothing in it. I'll be able to afford it for a single month, but I won't be able to afford heating or furniture or anything. Not at first, anyway. But it's just where I'll have to stay. And then I have to hope that you don't change your mind about moving in once you get your first pay. Trust me, it's really scary to think about living in an apartment with nothing in it, not even heating and barely any electricity. I don't even know if I'll be able to afford enough food."

"Fuck, Shouta, why did we do this? Why are we doing this to ourselves? Sensei was trying to tell us not to do that and what did we do? We didn't listen. Fuck." I mumbled. Shouta chuckled and kissed the top of my head. I had no idea what the hell was so funny, because I wasn't laughing.

"Hey, it'll be alright. We're doing this because we're doing our own thing, alright? And yeah, it'll be horrible the first few months, but once we've made it through that and have settled on a routine it'll all be better. I promise." he said, pressing another kiss to my forehead. I sighed quietly.

"What if we can't pay the rent, Shou?"

"We'll get it together somehow. Don't worry. If things don't work out well, I can start a part-time job somewhere to get my part of the rent together. We'll manage. We'll find a way somehow. We've made it this far, Y/N, we'll be able to get through this, too." Shouta answered.

This made me smile a little and maybe it even made me less anxious. I wasn't the only one that was terrified of all this. I wasn't the only one wondering whether we had made all the right choices. But if things went to shit, at least I also wouldn't be on my own in all that, right? I still had Shouta. I'd always have Shouta by my side and we'd somehow make things work together.

"Okay... Okay, thanks. I... I think I needed to hear that. I don't know why I'm such a downer all of a sudden."

"I think you're just crashing. All out of energy, exhausted. I bet your feet are in pain. Didn't you cut them on the way home or something? What's that cut doing?" Shouta wanted to know. I groaned. I had almost forgotten about that stupid cut. I stepped into a shard just outside Hizashi's agency and both Shouta and Hizashi had to try and get the shard out of my foot.

It was horrible. I almost fainted. My foot was bleeding all this time and I had to force myself to keep walking on my high heels, because I didn't want that cut to get infected, but it hurt so damn much. I was in tears by the time we got home and Shouta had to carry me upstairs and take care of my foot.

"I don't know. I had forgotten about that. Fuck." I muttered. Shouta chuckled and ruffled my hair.

"So I'll definitely be the one taking care of all the first aid stuff when we move in together. I hope you know how to do laundry, because I sure don't." he told me with a laugh. I smirked at him.

"I have no fucking idea. And you know how well I cook." I answered. God, we would probably die within a week of living together.

"Ah, damn it. I guess we'll have to figure it out somehow. Can't wait for you to move in." Shouta said with a grin.

"Well, at least Hizashi will be even worse off. He really can't cook for shit." I answered and laughed.

"Oh God, yeah. Hizashi is a fucking mess, wherever he's going to live. I don't even know how he plans to take care of himself. He just can't do it. He can't do it on his own." Shouta replied, shaking his head.

"He'll probably come over to our place for dinner." I snickered.

"Well, then he better pay into our household money."
