He's back in the hole where they got him living
Like a rat but he's smarter than that nine lives
Like a cat take him to the youth authority home
First thing you learn is that you got to make it in this world alone
I couldn't believe that we were already going to be in our second year at U.A. this year. The summer break had gone by so quickly, especially since there was so much studying to catch up on.
Everyone had warned us that the second year would be the most stressful and I was honestly somewhat scared of that. The first year had been alright when it came to stress. Of course the exams were always stressful and all the physical training was hellish - but it wasn't like we were all constantly at our breaking point. Apparently that would change in second year.
But I was looking forward to seeing all my friends again and most of all to be able to just be around Shouta all day, every day. Of course we were hanging out a lot during summer break, too, but my parents had taken me on vacation for a while and it was somehow difficult to actually see each other much.
I was also looking forward to seeing Hideko again. After our final exam we kind of got talking a little more again. We were far from being friends, but at least we were talking. And I hoped we could actually become friends again, just like old times. I had really missed having her around.
"Hey, hey, hey! (F/N)! You won't believe how much grumpy Shou missed you!" I suddenly heard someone calling after me. I turned around and saw Oboro catching up to me, Shouta trailing closely behind, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips, and I knew it was just for me.
"Oboro! Shou!" I replied and waited for them. They were really early today - was Oboro trying to get better during his second year or something?
They both came running at me and pulled me into a tight hug. I was pretty sure that it wouldn't have been a group hug if Shouta had been a second faster, but the way it was, both Oboro and he were holding onto me now and I didn't mind one bit. I had missed them so, so much.
"So, are we going to kill it at the Sports Fest this year?" Oboro asked with a big grin, after letting go of me. Shouta gave me a peck on the cheek and took my hand as we continued walking towards U.A.
"If by killing it, you mean surviving it, then sure. I plan to stay alive for a good while longer." I answered. Shouta shook his head.
"No, he means actually getting good, like in the top 5 or so." Shouta corrected. I raised an eyebrow.
"Cool, good luck with that, I'll be glad to be a stepping stone for you, if we have to fight one on one." I said and chuckled.
"Are you kidding me? You could probably beat me in a few seconds. I don't think you realize just how easy it is to distract me. And you made it really far last year!" Oboro replied with a wide grin.
"Out of the way, nerds!" I heard a female voice as she quickly moved past them, shoving Shouta and me against Oboro.
"What the...?" Shouta mumbled, but saw the way Oboro was looking at whoever had just bumped into them.
"Wow..." he just muttered, staring after a girl in a skimpy little outfit, eyes wide and mouth open.
"I know. Fucking rude." Shouta commented with a frown. Oboro blinked and looked over at him.
"What?"
"I said she was fucking rude. What's up with you? You look like you've seen a ghost." Shouta replied. I couldn't help but giggle. It was so obvious that Oboro was absolutely smitten with that girl.
"I've seen a goddess..." he just mumbled. Shouta and I looked at each other, as if he had lost his mind.
"Oboro, I think she's a third year... way out of your league." I said, trying to get him back to reality.
"I don't care... I'd be happy to worship the ground she walks on for the rest of my life..." he said, still looking after her, even though she was long gone. I looked at Shouta with raised eyebrows.
"You're insane, Oboro." he just said, shaking his head. Oboro turned around and gave both of us the biggest, most excited smile.
"Guys, I need to know who she is. Third-year you say, (F/N)? Do you know her name?" Oboro wanted to know excitedly.
"I don't know, Oboro, why don't you... you know... go and talk to her, instead of asking me?" I replied. Honestly, I had no idea what her name was. I had heard of her and I had seen her around, but I couldn't quite remember the name. Not like I cared much, but apparently Oboro did now.
"Come on, Oboro, snap out of it. Stop being a simp." Shouta commented and rolled his eyes dramatically.
"You're one to talk." Oboro shot back with a grin on his face. Shouta didn't even dignify that comment with a response, he just frowned at Oboro and muttered something under his breath.
"Ahem... Going back to the Sports Festival... I don't care how well we do, honestly, as long as we manage to kick Senoji's butt. Dude seriously needs a dampener." I said, after clearing my throat.
"Why? Did he do anything?" Oboro wanted to know.
"Besides existing?" Shouta clarified. I just shrugged. He didn't really do anything, but he was just really going on my nerves, constantly thinking he was better than everyone else and rubbing it in everyone's faces how powerful his Quirk was and how well he had it under control.
"Well, no. I just... I don't know. Like I haven't even heard anything of him during break, but for some reason I have just been annoyed by his existence. No idea why now all of a sudden."
"No, I get it. Sometimes someone just pops into your head and you get irritated by their mere existence. Like with Hizashi." Shouta agreed. I nodded slowly. Hizashi was kind of a good example.
We all loved him, but God, could he be irritating. It never ceased to amaze me how one person could just be such a perfect personification of a headache. Especially one of those headaches that weren't really bad enough to warrant a painkiller, but bad enough to actually constantly feel them.
"Come on, Zashi isn't that bad. He's just really loud." Oboro said, as we walked up to the school entrance. It felt weird to be back after such a short break and be a second year. It was like the time just flew by completely...
"Him being loud and annoying is what is bad. Even when he's not using his Quirk, he's just... loud. It's like the pitch of his voice irritates every single nerve ending in my body." Shouta muttered.
"Well, well, well. What a surprise. Shirakumo is on time for once? Planning to better yourself this year?" we heard the voice of our teacher from the other side of the hallway. Oboro grinned and waved at him.
"Wouldn't make any bets on it, if I were you, teach!" he just replied and laughed. Our teacher shook his head, but gave us a small smile. Since that incident with Watanabe had been cleared up, he seemed to be somewhat more lenient towards us and honestly, I wasn't as scared of all the training anymore. It really did make a difference, if you got along well with your teacher.
"Hey, wanna sit together at orientation?" I asked Shouta quietly, after leaning in closer to him.
"Sure thing." he replied with a smile and ruffled my hair a little, before letting go of my hand, as we made our way to the classroom. People did sort of already know that we were dating, but we still didn't want to flaunt it in front of everyone else. It would just feel weird to do that, so we kept it all on the down low.
"Under one condition." Shouta then added. I gave him a questioning look.
"And that would be?"
"You have to wake me up, if I fall asleep. I'm tired as hell."
