nothing felt real. san felt numb; he couldn't eat, could barely sleep... he felt lost. wooyoung did everything he could to support san, but it was hard. san didn't want to take his pills, no matter how much wooyoung begged. wooyoung didn't know what to do.

"san... i know you don't want to, but i need you to try and eat something."

san sighed and shook his head, curling up a bit more under the covers.

frowning, wooyoung went and sat at the edge of the bed, putting his arm around san.

"look at me, san..." wooyoung whispered.

san obliged, turning to wooyoung with an empty look on his face.

"i know it's hard losing someone who means so much to you, sannie... i don't know how long it's going to take for you to start to feel better, but you know i'm here, and you know you can talk to me. just don't try to shut me out, yeah? i went through this with jisu, i know how bad it hurts."

san grabbed onto wooyoung's hand and squeezed it tightly, signaling to wooyoung that he appreciated his efforts.

"c'mon, i want you to get up and take a shower, eat something, and then we can watch a movie or something and you can rest a bit. does that sound good?" wooyoung asked softly.

"mhmm..." san mumbled, curling close to wooyoung.

wooyoung smiled small and pushed san's hair back, then kissed the boy's forehead before getting up.

"alright, let's go, love. i'll make us some breakfast while you're in the shower and then we can find something to watch, sound good?"

"y-yeah... yeah it does..."

"you can use the downstairs bathroom if you're nervous, that way i'm right there if you need me..."

"please?"

"of course... let's go, yeah?"

san nodded and got up, grabbing some of his clothes and following wooyoung downstairs slowly. wooyoung got san set up in the bathroom, then once he was in the shower, checked to make sure there was nothing he could hurt himself with before going and beginning to make them some breakfast.

around 20 minutes later, san emerged from the bathroom and went to the kitchen, finding wooyoung at the stove. san walked up behind the younger and wrapped his arms around him, nuzzling his head into the boy's shoulder.

"how was your shower, love?" wooyoung asked, stirring the pot on the stove.

"it was good... i feel a little better than i did before. not much though," san explained.

"that's still good, sannie. i'm proud of you..."

"thank you... for everything. i don't know how i'd be able to handle this without you, woo..."

"i love you so much, you know that?"

san nodded, kissing wooyoung's neck lightly.

"i love you more, angel... and i appreciate you so much..."

"let me finish this up but right after you're getting a kiss," wooyoung giggled.

san nodded and watched as wooyoung finished up making their breakfast. he turned off the stove and turned around in san's arms, cupping the boy's cheeks and pressing a soft kiss to his lips.

"w-woo?" san whispered as the two parted.

"yeah?"

"i-i think i want to drop out... it's just... it's too much for me."

"if that's what you want then go ahead, love. you know i'll always support you."

"i-i feel guilty... i don't know... w-will our friends be mad?"

"i don't think they will, san. especially seonghwa and hongjoong."

"why them?"

"i talked to seonghwa on the phone last night, the two of them have been talking and they're both going to be taking the rest of the year off. after that they may go back but nothing's set in stone yet."

"that makes me feel a lot better about this..."

"i figured it would. let's eat before the food gets cold, we can talk more after."

san nodded and the two loaded up their plates, then sat down and began to eat. things were peaceful, and once they had finished they went over to the couch and chose a movie to watch. wooyoung's phone started to ring right as they went to start the movie and caused a sigh from the boy's mouth.

"you start without me, i'll be in the kitchen until i'm done this call."

san nodded and hit play as wooyoung walked into the kitchen and answered the phone.

"what's up, hwa?"

"how's he doing?"

"better than yesterday, that's for sure. look, i appreciate you checking in, but i gotta get back to him, okay? i don't wanna leave him alone for too long."

"wait, i wanted to ask something."

"what is it?"

"joongie's getting out of here today, do you think we could come by and visit?"

wooyoung sighed, peeking into the living room to check on san.

"i wish i could say yes, but i don't think he's ready to see anyone just yet... he barely wants to see me half the time."

"that's okay, i'll text you later and see how he's doing then, maybe he'll be up for a phone call with joongie at the very least."

"we'll see... thank you for checking in, hwa..."

"of course... now get back in there and give san some love. and tell him we said hi."

"i will, talk to you soon.."

seonghwa hung up and wooyoung reentered the living room, seeing san not even looking at the tv and instead playing with his fingers. wooyoung sat beside san and rested his hand on the boy's knee, earning a soft sigh.

"hey, is the movie no good?"

"no... it's alright so far, i just... my thoughts started to take over a little bit while you were gone?"

"ahhh, i see. well, i'm here now so there's nothing for you to worry about, yeah?"

san nodded and pressed a kiss to wooyoung's cheek, then laid down with his head in the younger's lap. wooyoung smiled and began to run his fingers through the boy's hair, earning soft hums of pleasure.

"hwa and joongie said hi... hwa also wanted to know if you'd be up for talking to joongie later, but if you don't know just yet it's okay. he's going to text me later to see how you're feeling and if you're up for it then."

san nodded slightly, closing his eyes as he grew a bit tired. wooyoung continued to play with san's hair as the older drifted to sleep, leaving a small smile on wooyoung's face as he turned off the movie and leaned back.

things were hard, but having each other was the one thing they needed.
