tw / verbal and physical abuse, homophobia .. san encounters his mother, you can assume how it goes
san and wooyoung were on the train to his grandmother's funeral when san came to the realization that he would have to face his mother for the first time in months. he tried his best to hide his fears, not wanting to break down in a public setting, but wooyoung knew something was up.
"sannie... hey, what's wrong? you're shaking..."
"woo... my mom's going to be there."
"oh, shit... we didn't even think about that... are you sure you're going to be able to get through this?"
"i-i'm sure... i have you by my side, right? i've got this," san reassured (however it was more for himself than wooyoung).
wooyoung nodded and kissed san's cheek, running his thumb across the back of the boy's hand. san relaxed at wooyoung's touch, but mentally, he was still freaking out. he knew what his mother was capable of, and now that his father was in jail, she'd probably be more aggressive than she had ever been before. although she had never laid her hands on him in the past, it had been threatened, and he knew she was strong.
"just don't go anywhere without me... promise?" san asked.
"promise. i'll be by your side no matter what, love."
san nodded and kissed wooyoung's temple, sighing gently.
they arrived not too long after, causing san to get tense again. he wanted to go home, but at the same time, he just wanted one last goodbye with his grandmother.
"san... we don't have to go if you're nervous..."
"i-i need to go, woo... i need to say goodbye..."
wooyoung sighed and nodded, beginning to get worried about how things would turn out.
"okay..."
the two boys walked to the funeral home in silence, san's breath beginning to quicken as they got closer and closer. wooyoung knew that even though he had taken his meds, they weren't going to be enough to keep him from having an anxiety attack in a situation like this. san stopped in his tracks as they got close to the funeral home, causing a worried wooyoung to look over.
"what's wrong?"
"i-i saw her... woo... i-i don't know if i can go in there..."
wooyoung frowned and pulled the boy over to a nearby bench, sitting down.
"everything's going to be okay, sannie... i'm right here, i'm not leaving your side no matter what. we'll be in and out of there as quickly as we can, yeah? we'll stay for the service, you can say your goodbyes, and then we'll leave. simple as that."
san nodded and hugged wooyoung tightly, taking a few shaky breaths.
"you'll be okay, love..." wooyoung insisted softly.
the boys sat on the bench for a couple of minutes, giving san a chance to calm down, then continued on to the funeral home and inside. they sat towards the back, san's mother unable to see them just yet.
the service went smoothly, and it wasn't until san went to say his goodbyes to his grandmother that his mother spotted the two boys. she angrily made her way over to them and grabbed san by the collar, causing wooyoung to hold onto san's hand a bit tighter.
"you little piece of shit! how dare you just leave your own home, all to go live with some boy!"
san cowered back slightly, tapping his fingers on wooyoung's hand anxiously.
