yeosang sat between san and wooyoung, holding both of their hands as he tried to calm himself down from yet another anxiety attack. the boys were patient with him, and they seemed to understand him better than anyone else. he was grateful for every moment beside them.
it was a few minutes later that wooyoung noticed yeosang starting to relax, resting his head on san's shoulder and taking deep breaths.
"wanna lay down, sangie?" wooyoung offered.
"c-can we all cuddle?"
wooyoung smiled and nodded, pressing a kiss to the older's shoulder.
"of course we can. do you need a water or anything before we lay down?"
yeosang shook his head, then san pulled the boy close before pulling the two to be laying down. wooyoung followed in suit, leaning over and pressing soft kisses to both san and yeosang's foreheads before settling down.
this time was important for all three of them for their own reasons, and wooyoung recognized it greatly. he knew that for san, this was reassurance that he had people to lean on and that it brought him comfort, for wooyoung it was a reminder that he wasn't alone even when he felt like he was, and for yeosang, it was a reminder that things would be okay. it reminded him of when he would cuddle with both wooyoung and jisu when they were much younger, after dealing with another one of his mother's awful boyfriends lashing out.
"i love you both so much, you know that? i'm so grateful to have you two in my life," wooyoung said softly.
"thank you for being my strength, wooyoungie," yeosang whispered. "and for bringing san into my life... he's everything you've ever needed and one of my biggest supporters too, and that means a lot to me..."
"you both mean a lot to me... woo saved my life, and sangie... you've been someone who makes me feel a little less alone in the world. you've been through some of the same things as me, and although i wish neither of us had gone through these things, i'm glad i have someone to lean on when it comes to them."
san snuggled closer to the two boys at this, wooyoung giggling and a small smile appearing on yeosang's face.
things were quiet after that, yeosang's head on wooyoung's chest again and san keeping both boys as close as possible. from time to time, wooyoung or san would press soft kisses to the other two boys' heads, muttering soft reminders that they were safe together and everything would be okay.
yeosang had started to doze off when there was a knock at the door, wooyoung softly muttering a come in and to be quiet to whoever was on the other side of the door. much to the boys' surprise, it was both hongjoong and jongho.
wooyoung sat up quickly, anger running through his veins at the sight of the younger.
"what the hell is he doing here?" wooyoung hissed.
yeosang hid his face when he recognized who it was, closing his eyes and curling closer to wooyoung, a habit he'd had since they were little. san sat up too, using his body to block jongho from yeosang.
"hongjoong... why is he here?" san asked.
"he wanted to talk to sangie... i told him i would come with."
"now's not a good time, joongie... hell, i don't think there is a good time for this."
"please, just hear me out..." jongho asked.
"after what you did? i don't even want you in my house," wooyoung snapped, playing with yeosang's hair a bit to try and soothe the boy.
"so i fucked up. i know that, i do. but i want to make things better."
"too late for that. you should've thought before you laid a finger on my best friend."
"best friend, huh? you guys look a little too cozy for things to be that simple. why don't you stop trying to seduce him first?"
"you little bastard... get the hell out of my house!"
"yeosang, they're trying to use you! open your eyes, huh?!"
"hongjoong... if you don't get him out of here right now i'm going to lose it," wooyoung mumbled, trying to keep his cool so he could focus on keeping yeosang calm.
"baby, don't listen to him," san whispered. "sangie knows you're not trying to use him for anything... it's okay."
"jongho... what are you doing? this isn't going to fix things!" hongjoong said frustratedly. "c'mon... you need to leave."
hongjoong grabbed jongho's wrist, pulling the boy toward the door. jongho stopped though, pulling his arm back and turning toward yeosang one last time.
"i am sorry, yeosang."
"then act like it," the boy whispered weakly. "you don't seem sorry at all..."
with that, hongjoong finally managed to pull jongho out of the room and yeosang started sobbing, his mind a bit cloudy from the mixed signals jongho was giving him. wooyoung held the boy close, rubbing his back and comforting him as best he could.
"shh... you're okay, sangie. san and i are here."
"i-it hurts... s-so bad..."
"i know, honey... i know. don't listen to a word he says, okay?"
"mhmm..."
"i'll be right back, i just want to make sure he's not still here," san whispered.
wooyoung nodded, leaning up to give san a quick peck before the boy went to check the rest of the house.
"you know we'd never use you for anything, right sangie?" wooyoung whispered softly.
"i-i know... you guys just want to keep me safe."
"exactly... i just don't want you believing his stupid assumptions about our closeness. he doesn't know what you've been through... he doesn't know that this is how i've always comforted you. he just sees a couple with someone between their arms and assumes the worst."
"i-i didn't think i needed this kind of comfort anymore until him... a-and i'm really glad you two were there to provide it."
san soon returned with a water bottle, hugging yeosang gently before passing the bottle to him and greeting wooyoung with a kiss.
"he's gone. hongjoong too... i hope i wasn't too harsh..."
"you weren't, sannie..." wooyoung reassured.
san just nodded, resting his head on wooyoung's free shoulder and tracing shapes on yeosang's side.
"thank you both for standing up for me... i-i was scared... i-i didn't know how to react," yeosang said softly.
"anything for you, sangie. always."
