one year.

it had officially been one year since jisu had passed.

one year since the day wooyoung's life fell apart. one year since he last hugged his sister. one year since he had told her he loved her in person. one year since the call. one year since san's parents ruined everything.

the morning started quiet, wooyoung already wide awake and staring at the ceiling when san woke up. san quickly noticed and didn't say anything, but instead hugged the boy close and gently kissed his forehead.

"why her?" wooyoung whispered, cuddling into the warmth of san's arms.

"i don't know, bub... i really don't know. everything happens for a reason though, yeah?"

"i guess you're right..."

"c'mon, let's go eat something and take our pills. after that we can come back here if you want, we don't have to do anything today if you don't want to."

"i-i want to visit her later... b-but i know a lot of people will be there a-and that's really overwhelming..."

"let's wait, yeah? after breakfast we'll see how you're doing and if you're feeling up to it then we can see if seonghwa can drive us, okay?"

"o-okay... thank you, sannie..."

"anything for you, love."

the two boys got their day started, san keeping a close eye on wooyoung, being met by seonghwa and hongjoong in the kitchen.

"we're making pancakes, are you guys interested?" seonghwa asked.

"that would be great. thanks, hwa," san said.

"thank you," wooyoung whispered, squeezing san's hand tightly.

hongjoong put down what he was doing and wiped off his hands, then came over to san and wooyoung.

"hug?" he asked wooyoung softly.

wooyoung nodded and let go of san, hugging onto hongjoong tightly and sighing shakily. seonghwa looked on with a small smile, san using this moment to grab both boys some water.

wooyoung let silent tears run down his cheeks as he held onto hongjoong, extremely grateful that he had the support system he had. he hid his face a bit, not wanting for the others to know he was crying, then seonghwa took hongjoong's place and hugged wooyoung tight.

"we've got you, woo..." seonghwa whispered.

san soon returned and saw wooyoung's tears, frowning slightly.

"baby, do you want to go back to our room for a little while? until the pancakes are ready?"

"i-i—" wooyoung started, trying to take deep breaths and calm himself down.

he eventually gave up and nodded, then san grabbed their glasses of water and nodded for wooyoung to follow him. the younger gladly did, just wanting to be back in the comfort of san's arms once again.

"baby... baby, hey, hey... you're okay, it's okay. i'm right here, yeah? look at me, bub," san cooed, gently cupping wooyoung's cheeks.

"i-i'm sorry... i-i'm so s-sorry..." wooyoung cried, holding onto san's wrists.

"shh... it's okay, love. you have nothing to be sorry for, you're okay... today's gonna be a tough day, yeah? and that's okay. we're human, woo. we're gonna have hard days."

"i-i just... i-i still can't believe she's gone..."

"i know, baby... it sucks. she's still watching over you though, i promise. she's watching over both of us, making sure we're getting through each day."
