the group of four spent the rest of the day peacefully preparing for the following night when the entire group would come together, and getting san and wooyoung feeling at least a little better than before. it seemed that all they needed was a little push and some encouragement to get back on track, because it didn't take long for them to appear to be doing a bit better.
finally, yunho, mingi and yeosang had arrived, which was very exciting to wooyoung. he missed his friends dearly, but couldn't bring himself to answer more than a few texts over the course of the two weeks yeosang had been away.
"how are you doing?" yeosang whispered to wooyoung, grabbing his hand anxiously.
wooyoung frowned a bit when he noticed how anxious yeosang was and then shrugged a bit in response to his question.
"i missed you, sangie. after you left to get back to campus... i stopped trying. i-i lost all motivation, and san had to take care of me... a-and then he stopped taking care of himself. w-we didn't eat for days at a time, a-and it was hard to even pull ourselves out of bed. joongie came over yesterday and pretty much forced us to take care of ourselves."
"i-i'm so sorry i wasn't there for you..." yeosang whispered, feeling guilty.
"sangie... you were though. you needed to go back to campus and get ready for finals, which by the way... i'm sure you rocked. but even while you were away you kept on checking up on us and even though i lied to keep you from worrying... you kept checking. you were there for me, trust me."
yeosang nodded, visibly unhappy that he hadn't been there as much as he would've liked to be. wooyoung engulfed the boy in a hug, hoping to ease his worries and make him feel better, but nothing seemed to work.
"c'mon... come upstairs," wooyoung whispered, guiding yeosang away from the group and taking him upstairs.
san watched wooyoung and yeosang go upstairs, worried. he saw that yeosang didn't seem like he was doing well and frowned a bit, but shook it off and decided to wait a few minutes before going up and checking on the two.
"so how are things going for you and wooyoung?" mingi asked softly.
"pretty good. relationship wise, everything's perfect. we just have a lot of shit to sort out personally. it's been a tough few weeks..."
"i'm sorry..." mingi frowned.
"no, it's all okay. we're working on it, it's just been a lot. we're both grieving and honestly... i had no idea it would feel this way. losing my grandfather never hurt this bad..."
"you were closer to your grandmother though... that's why this has been hurting you so bad."
san nodded, chewing his lip a bit.
"how are things going for you and yunho?"
"yunho's perfect, san. he's everything i've ever wanted and more."
"that's amazing... he's doing okay, yeah?"
"he just needs a little more reassurance that i'm not going to leave him or hurt him than some would, but he's honestly doing amazing... i didn't think he'd be so comfortable with being official, but he's been pretty good. i'm proud of him..."
"you two are really cute. yunho's very lucky to have you."
"you think?"
"oh, absolutely. you're so good to him, mingi. keep it up."
"thanks, san."
"excuse me for a sec, i'm just gonna go upstairs and check on woo and sangie. make sure everything's okay and there's no jongho drama or anything."
