since his grandmother's funeral, san had barely left the house in fear of seeing his mother. wooyoung didn't leave much either, as he didn't like leaving san alone for too long. seonghwa and hongjoong visited often, and san was really glad to see that hongjoong was starting to do so well.
today, seonghwa and hongjoong had gone over and upon seeing how little the boys had been eating, offered to take them out for lunch. san quickly refused, his fear of his own mother lingering. when he did, hongjoong suggested that the two older boys go grocery shopping for them, and then they could all make something together later on in the day.
the boys agreed to this, and once seonghwa and hongjoong had left, wooyoung got up. he whimpered slightly as he did, feeling the pain in his side, but quickly tried to hide it.
"baby... hey, what's wrong?" san asked worriedly.
"i-i'm just sore, don't worry..."
"woo... c'mere."
wooyoung sighed and obliged, going over to where san laid. san sat up and gently pulled wooyoung's shirt over his head, the sight of the perfectly toned boy in front of him and the feeling of his soft skin on san's fingers leaving him speechless.
"this is a nasty bruise, woo... why didn't you do anything about it?"
wooyoung shrugged, beginning to feel a bit turned on at the feeling of san's fingers on his skin.
"let me check you out too... i know she got you pretty bad..."
wooyoung lifted san's shirt over his head and lightly traced the bruises on his stomach and arms, trying to focus on the bruises and not his arousal.
"are you sure you're okay, sannie?"
san nodded, then leaned in and pressed a soft and slow kiss to wooyoung's lips. the two engaged in a heated make out session, san's hands firmly on the younger's hips, pinning him to the bed.
a knock on the door caused them to jump apart, wooyoung pouting when he realized this meant that seonghwa and hongjoong were home.
"fuck..." san muttered, looking at the state of both boys.
wooyoung sighed, a little disappointed that they hadn't been able to go any further. being with san was so special to him, all he wanted was to take their relationship to the next level.
"woo, open the door!" seonghwa called out.
"hwa, for fuck's sake! can you wait two seconds? san just woke up," wooyoung fibbed, knowing there would be questions asked if the older boys saw their bruises.
"dumbass, you should've texted and warned us! now open the door, joongie and i got food!"
"neither of us have shirts on so you're gonna have to wait a second," san laughed.
"ew, were you two—"
"no! hwa, it just got hot under the blankets," san explained, buying the two of them a bit of time to get a shirt on.
seonghwa huffed a bit and went to go back downstairs, but not before calling out to the two that they needed to hurry up and meet him in the kitchen. san laughed softly and walked over to wooyoung, wrapping his arms around him and kissing his jaw.
"we'll finish this later, yeah?"
wooyoung nodded hopefully, pulling san in for a soft kiss before the two unlocked the door and made their way downstairs.
"you two took forever," hongjoong said with a laugh. "but anyways, we got stuff to make spaghetti because i've been craving it for days."
wooyoung laughed a bit and nodded, san admiring him from behind. hongjoong quickly took notice of this, smiling himself at how happy san was (whether he believed it or not, hongjoong could tell he was).
"hwa, could you get the spaghetti started? i need to talk to san really quick," hongjoong said softly.
seonghwa nodded and kissed hongjoong's cheek, then went over to the stove, wooyoung following. san and hongjoong went into the living room, and hongjoong quickly hugged san.
"you're doing so well..." he whispered.
"n-no... i-i'm really not, joongie..."
"san... i know you feel like you're going backwards. i know you're grieving and i know that you probably feel like this is just another reminder from the world that things won't get better and will only get worse. but i need you to listen to me... you're so strong, and i'm so proud of how far you've come.
"i-i know i never noticed what you were going through before you told me, but if there's one thing i have noticed, it's that your eyes have a light in them that they never had before you met wooyoung. and as long as that light is shining, i know you're going to be okay. and i think i know better than anyone that a person can't be your entire happiness, but san... wooyoung makes you happy. you may not think so, but i know he does. don't let him go... ever."
san began to tear up slightly and nodded a bit, trying to stay calm.
"i-i want to spend the rest of my life with him, i really do."
"he's gonna get you through this, san... he'll be your guiding light."
"h-he saved me again the other day... i-i almost r-relapsed a-and he stopped me..."
hongjoong frowned slightly and hugged san tightly, allowing the boy to cry softly in his arms.
wooyoung entered the room not long after and made eye contact with hongjoong, who waved him over and had him take his place. wooyoung held san close, beginning to kiss his head as hongjoong went into the kitchen.
"w-woo..."
"shh... you're okay, love... just try to take some deep breaths and relax for now, we can talk later."
"i-i love you... i-i really fucking love you..."
"i love you too, sannie... i love you so much."
san hiccuped slightly, trying to calm himself down, and wooyoung just held him close, stroking his hair to relax him.
"please don't leave me..." san whispered. "y-you make me happy..."
"i'll never leave, san. never, no matter what."
"so you'll be here forever? you promise?"
"forever and always, love."
