a couple of weeks had passed since jongho paid a visit to yeosang when he was with wooyoung and san, and nothing had changed. yeosang still spent a lot of his time leaning on the two, finding comfort in the various ways they supported him. hongjoong was annoyed with the three, as he had been trying to help jongho patch things up with the others, but he also knew that jongho was way out of line for saying the things he did.

seonghwa was unsure of how to handle all of this, as he knew jongho wanted to fix things, but yeosang was still one of his best friends and he knew the boy was hesitant.

"hey, joong? i think that maybe... we should stay out of this one. if jongho actually cares about yeosang, he'll know how to fix things. yeah?"

"but hwa—"

"shh... think about it, okay? getting involved will hurt our friendships with sangie, san and woo if we're not careful."

hongjoong thought about it for a moment and then his eyes widened, nodding. he couldn't lose yeosang, san and wooyoung over this. they meant far too much to him.

"i'm gonna call woo, i haven't checked in with him today," seonghwa said.

"o-okay..."

seonghwa pulled out his phone and called wooyoung, putting the boy on speaker so that hongjoong could listen when he answered.

"hey, hwa..."

"hi, woo. how are things going today? everything okay?"

"yeah... things aren't bad. san's not doing the greatest today, but we're pushing through."

"what's going on? anything we can help with?"

"i don't think so, unfortunately... he woke up and was just feeling really weighed down. he misses his grandmother a little extra today," wooyoung explained.

"is sangie hanging out with you guys today?"

"no, he's spending some time with his mom today. she got a day off work so he's really excited to finally get some time with her."

"well that's good. hey, what if joong and i come over and drive you guys to visit san's grandmother's grave? do you think that would help him at all?"

"it might... i'll talk to him and get back to you."

"thanks, woo. talk to you soon."

the two boys hung up and wooyoung made his way back into the bedroom, where san was staring at the wall.

"it's okay to miss her, sannie."

"i-i know... it just feels so wrong that she's gone..."

"i know the feeling, bub," wooyoung sympathized, sitting down next to san and pulling him close.

"t-thank you... for always being here."

"no need to thank me, love."

"no... you don't understand. i-i do need to thank you, because i would never have made it this far without you by my side."

"sannie... i love you. so, so much. i'm never leaving your side."

san sat up and pressed the boys' foreheads together, tears shining in his eyes. wooyoung quickly cupped the boy's cheeks, gently running his thumbs across them.

"shh... don't cry, bub. i'm here..."

"i-i know... i-i know you are. i'm just so grateful that i have you," san choked out, letting his tears fall.

wooyoung gently pressed his lips to san's and wiped his tears away, then smiled small as the two pulled apart.

"wanna visit your grandmother, sannie?"
