Chapter Four

Okay, I was wrong. I had readily let him into my room, feeling as if I could trust him. I couldn't believe it. He was beyond nice and I had a hard time believing anything being wrong with him. Then my thoughts went to Candy. Except for Zeke and Clary, they'd all been so nice she had to be mistaken. I wondered if she'd made it up because of a disagreement. Perhaps she dated one of them? She seemed so genuine that either her acting skills remained superb or she meant what she said.

When we'd entered my dorm, I'd invited him to sit down, and he'd sat on Megan's bed while I sat on my own. He looked so kind; any fear I had had gone out the window. He seemed curious about my life and I told him a lot about myself despite the embarrassment. I had never been the most interesting person and my life remained boring. Certainly no one would write a book about my life.

"So, anything you'd like to share about yourself?" I'd questioned, more interested in his life than my own.

"Sure. My place of birth is Mullingar, Ireland. I guess every introduction should start from where you came from, right?"

"Wow, that's a long way," I mused.

We talked for a few minutes until the door opened to reveal Liam. I planned to smile at him, but the expression stopped me. "Niles, there you are. I couldn't locate Henry either. What are you doing here?" He asked, looking at us with hard eyes.

"I went to the coffee shop looking for Tamron and ran into her and the girls. Clary said something that upset her, so she wanted to come back here. As for Henry, I don't keep up with him, but he texted and asked me to remind Megan he wanted to speak to her. She can tell us where he is if no one else does."

"You're right, she can. Anyway, I found you, so that worked out."

"What's up?" Niles asked.

"Loui and Zeke mentioned something they want to talk to us about."

"I see," he said thoughtfully, and I had the sensation of intruding, even though it was my room. "All right, well, Britt, I'll see you later."

He headed towards the door and turned back to Liam. "Are you coming?"

"Yes, I'm going to talk to Britt for a second."

"All right," he nodded, looking at me and waving one more time before leaving the room.

"Hi, Britt," Liam turned to me.

"Hey."

"I have a question for you."

"Okay."

"So, have you had someone show you around the city yet? Like really show you?"

"No, not really."

"Then allow me to show you around on Friday." He offered, shocking me.

"You want to show me around the city?"
