Chapter: Ninety-Two

It seemed for the last month things had taken such a drastic change. It had started just the night of the wedding. I'd gone into the couch to sit with Mom and Victor had given us our privacy. Mom made me a cup of hot coffee and despite normally not being a huge coffee drinker, I accepted just to sit with her. We'd watched some television on Victor's large television and just spent time together.

"You know one day it's going to be your turn," Mom said, looking at me.

"I'm probably not getting married for a long time, if ever."

"You never know. I didn't think I was going to get married so young either, but I'm glad I did. Your grandparents were so upset with me, but I'd do it all over again. I love your dad, you know, and I'll never stop loving him for as long as I live. Plus, it brought me you and Jay. I've been blessed."

"Marriage can be nice," I admitted, leaning my head on her shoulder, though I couldn't exactly remember the last two times I'd been married.

"You'd make a splendid wife for someone one day when you're ready. Niles seems like a wonderful chance, or maybe Liam."

"Liam," I coughed, trying not to spit my hot coffee everywhere, as it would hurt my pride to clean anything that belonged to Victor.

"I know he cares deeply for you."

"He's just not a one woman type of guy."

"Oh I see," she sighed.

"I care deeply for both of them, that's true."

"You'll find your way, sweetheart. I know you will."

"Thanks, mom."

Afterwards, we'd all gone to bed, and I'd been so tired I couldn't even care that I'd been alone. I cuddled into my bed and fell asleep easily. At some point in the night, I'd turned over, and I gasped as I saw a shadow beside my bed. I wanted to scream, but the hand was over my mouth instantly.

"Shh, mummy doesn't need to know."

Victor? He moved his hand from my mouth and I instantly sat up, scooting away from him. He seated himself on my bed and I moved to turn on the lamp beside my bed and turned to him in fear and annoyance. "What are you doing?" I demanded.

"Trisha's asleep and, might I say, sleeping beautifully. Sometimes her beauty is too much. Jay and Mattie are asleep too."

"Okay, so? Why are you in here?"

"I wanted to talk with you about something and it couldn't wait."

"What is it? And why come into my room at night when I'm sleeping?"

"It may be your room, but this is also my house. Though considering your mum lives here, now think of it as your home, too."

"What do you want?"
