Chapter: Seventy-Six
"I'm everywhere, am I?" We froze for a moment in surprise, then my head snapped at the sound of his voice.
Victor stood leaning against the wall by my door, a smirk ever placed on his lips. My eyes narrowed, and I moved to get up, but Niles grabbed my arm, keeping me on the bed.
"What do you want, Victor?" I spat.
"Is that really any way to talk to the one who saved your halfling friend and her precious child? If you thought I was even remotely moved by her being pregnant, you're wrong. You should be thanking me."
"You're the one who did that to her in the first place," I reminded him.
"I should have just let them both die after what she did and what you did, but I didn't. Just remember that."
"Why are you here?" Niles questioned.
"To discuss the lovely birthday celebration of her beautiful mother. It disappoints me you don't think I should be involved in the planning, Britt. I am her boyfriend, you know. I was so pleased when Jay and Mattie came by to see me. I don't often get guests who want to talk about things other than Berkeley-related issues. A woman like Trisha? Well, she deserves to be celebrated."
"She will be celebrated by people who love her. Not people who use her for their own purposes," Niles spoke, shocking me and Victor smirked.
"Niles, my boy, are we really going to talk about using women right now? You and Liam might just be the biggest users of women I know. More than me, and that's saying something. You've got Britt here and you've been using her over the centuries."
"Neither of us uses her. We love her. Of course, I don't expect you to know anything about that."
"Hmm, maybe you're right," he chuckled, going to sit on Mattie's old bed.
"Since you're here, what did you want to discuss? Britt and I would like our privacy," Niles continued.
"Yes, I can see that. Manipulating this poor human in her most vulnerable moments. We were both angels once. We know how wrong manipulating the heart of a precious human really is. It seems neither of us are good at listening. Anyway, this bed must be Mattie's. I smell her scent," He revealed rubbing his hand along the mattress. I grimaced at that fact. Her scent?
"Don't give me that sour look, Brittany. I'm just keeping my options open. Trisha is definitely what I like to call a real woman. She's the type that represents perfectly the reasons fallen angels flocked to the beautiful daughters of the earth. Even so, I suppose it does upset you so much we're together. If she were to break up with me, I could always move to Mattie." He taunted with a smirk.
"Enough," Niles commanded, but Victor continued.
"She's younger and more naïve, which seems to only enhance her beauty. You could say I'm a changed man all because of you, Britt. I don't really have to torture Henry's little family anymore. If you're so bothered by me being with your mother, then I could always just get with Mattie. Jay would be so—"
