Chapter: Seventy-Three

"Go get Henry, I need him."

"Calm down, sweetie," Mom said, rubbing her head. Mattie and Lily looked on in worry as Jay brought the doctor in. I turned from the scene.

"Niles, take me to Victor now," I stressed.

"Britt right no-

"Hush Jay!" I took off from the room, nearly colliding with Victor as Henry moved past me and rushed into the room. Niles and Louis were behind me and Liam, Zeke, and Clary were with him.

"What's going on?" Victor looked at me innocently.

"Victor, we agreed to your demands. Now stop," Liam said, pushing him and shocking me.

"Actually, I don't think you take anything I say too seriously. That's a dangerous thing to do," Victor spoke, and I shook violently with the feeling of anger in the air. What had one of them done? Megan groaned again from the room as the doctor fumbled to find something he could do.

"Victor, whatever business you have with us doesn't concern her or the baby," Liam continued, getting in his face.

"Liam," I warned. Megan let out a loud squeal as another cry escaped her lips.

"Whether it concerns them is debatable, but it doesn't sound like she's doing well right now. In fact, it sounds like she's in some form of pain, and I don't believe it's related to contractions."

"Victor, why are you doing this to her? You brought her here to watch over her development and tasked us with her protection. Her death or torturing her were not part of your plan," Niles remarked.

"No, but they were never concrete and plans change. The disrespect that child showed me coupled with all of you? That has to be punished. There's really no better option to get the point across. It seems to be working well so far. I don't think she's all that important now."

"Henry, it hurts!" Megan cried.

"It's okay, it's okay," he tried, but knew it wasn't.

"No more children need to die," Clary stated with desperation. I hadn't heard from her.

"If that girl and baby die!" Liam grabbed his shirt.

"If that happens, what will you do, Liam? Hmm? Anything?" Victor challenged.

"You're angry at us, but she didn't do anything. Nothing she said warrants this," Niles declared.

"No? Alright, Niles, will you sacrifice your child for that one?"

"Leave Eleanor out of this!" he warned.

"Why are you doing this?" I demanded.

"Why Britt? Hmm, let me see. I guess it's because the would-be parents have so passionately insisted to me that I don't own them or the baby. They're right, they don't belong to me. Since they don't, what's it matter to me if either of them live? Considering her parentage, she's only half useful. Her survival isn't necessary and if someone else wants to end it for her, you're welcome to it."
