Chapter Eighteen
When we got outside, Liam walked straight ahead, deciding to ignore me. This wasn't a good sign, and to be honest, it infuriated me. I wasn't going to let him treat me that way.
"Liam?" I questioned.
"You think you're quite intelligent, don't you?" He asked.
"I'm not sure what you mean," I began.
"I can't stand liars. You're also not very good at it. You're clearly trying to keep me away from her, but it won't work forever. We both know that. I guess I could ask why."
"You have no reason to threaten her. Just leave her alone."
"Leave her alone? What do you think I'm going to do? I haven't threatened her. Yet you are clearly playing a game here. So then maybe I act how you expect me to. You're still testing me, even now. Spending the weekend with your family again? I should go to your mother's house right now. Actually, your brother was just the one running his mouth in there. I don't take too kindly to that. Perhaps I should teach him a lesson? Is that what you were thinking?"
"Stop," I said through gritted teeth.
"I don't think you're going to spend time with them this weekend. I think I'm going to make you stay with me. From what I'm gathering, it's not an official plan, anyway. They can go, but I think you need to stay here. I could find something interesting for us to do after all. Sound fun?"
"What would that be?" I asked, playing along.
"You wanted to know more about us? I was going to give you a sneak peek."
Was he bluffing or serious? Did I even want to know what that was?
"Maybe I'm better off not knowing."
"You want to know. I can see it in your eyes. There are questions you desperately want answers to. It's a lot more complicated than your wildest dreams could imagine."
"I think you're bluffing."
"Try me."
"Can you stay away from Mattie and Jayden?"
"I can't promise that because if they're going to be around you, then I'm going to be near you."
"Why do you want to be around me?"
"You make things interesting."
"So I take it there's no project then?"
"You needed help on that paper. You haven't done it yet, have you?"
"No?"
"Let's go."
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere I know you'll be comfortable. Niles' room."
"Why are we going there?"
"Because Louis was being stupid again and locked me out of my room."
"Seriously?" I couldn't help the slightest of smirks forming at the corners of my lips.
