Chapter Ninety
We walked outside, meeting the others and stopping just before we were set to go out in front of everyone to begin the wedding. I could see Henry from a distance looking handsome as ever as he stood waiting for his bride. One of the women from earlier was hastily directing us all on where to stand and I suddenly felt nervous, wishing we had practiced this. Instead, we were only going to get one shot, and if we screwed this up, not only would that happen, but in front of everyone.
I, for one, was frankly distracted at how good all the guys looked in suits. Louissten certainly looked so mature and handsome. They all did, and I moved my eyes from him to the others and back to Liam and Niles again. I only needed to be looking for my boyfriend and at this point, I didn't need to be looking at anyone or I was going to start drooling all over my beautiful dress, which was not going to work.
"Maid of Honour and best man, you stand here. Everyone lock arms with your partner when you start walking out. It will look nice."
I stood beside Liam and I was again taken aback by his appearance, and he eyed me without saying a word. He then looked at Abel just briefly before he looked back at me. Then a smirk broke out on his face.
"It's been a while."
"Yeah," I agreed, realizing he was right, and we hadn't ended our conversation in the best of terms without some pain and regret along the way, which was common for us.
"You look beautiful, truly."
I could tell he truly thought this.
"Thank you."
"How annoying," Clary muttered because of course she and Niles of all people would be put right in front of us.
They were both glaring at Liam and me and probably more at him than me, which was a welcome thought, actually. Still, there needed to be no more anger and resentment at this wedding. We were so close, and it needed to go off without a hitch. And for goodness' sake, these two need to be married already.
"Clary, can you not go one day without insulting her?" Liam spoke, and she turned to him.
"I was talking about you actually," she smirked at him with an expression that clearly showed she was still angry with him.
"When have I ever been annoying, love?"
"Every day of your life."
"Come now, that's not what you said every time-
"Don't start. I've heard about her many sexual partners. If this was a church, I'd get her to confess. I rolled my eyes.
"Oh sweetie, I can't help it you're not comfortable with your sexuality," she chided me.
"Maybe you're too comfortable," I shot back
"After the slight progress we made today, I'd really hate to have to kill you. It would be truly tempting."
