Chapter: Sixty-Nine

"What did you do to make her cry now?" I turned to see Louis, Clary, and Zeke approaching, surveying the scene.

"Nothing," I answered, wiping my eyes.

"If we don't find her soon, Henry will be even more irate than he already is. And he's going to have a long time to heal up," Zeke remarked.

"We looked everywhere for her. She wasn't out in town and we can't sense her anywhere," Louis sighed.

"Don't worry, you can all stop the search. It's a false alarm," Victor's voice rang out. I was quick to hold on to Niles as he made his presence known. He sauntered his way towards us, his smirk growing wider.

"Where is she?" Liam demanded.

"How long have you been looking for her? You know, if you'd asked me, I would have told you where she was. Of course, you didn't. Though I suppose you had other things to worry about, didn't you? So many unwelcome guests here as of late, aren't there?"

"Where is she?" Louis repeated.

She's been in my office so passionately telling me about all her problems. I am the dean of Berkley, you know. Always available to help my students."

"She'd never willingly seek you out," Niles argued.

"Oh, but this time she did."

"What did you do to her?" I demanded.

"Nothing, she's perfectly safe. Believe me when I say I'm very disappointed in Nashua for teaching that child such a lack of respect. However, since she is still in my office, I'd like for you to collect her. "

"Why is she still there?" Clary demanded.

"You know how those teenage and pregnancy hormones go. I think it's best for one of you to remove her before I have to."

"We'll go right now," Liam assured him.

Good. How nice this story had such a happy ending when they often end so tragically. Now I'd love to stick around and chat, but I have a meeting with the state board to attend. Being a Dean of an entire college tasked with being the king of darkness is such a tiring job you know?" He chuckled, disappearing as he did before.

"I want to go get her," I said immediately.

"You and I can both go, but hold on a second," Niles said, taking my arm gently.

"Yes, we need a new game plan. The Lazuli are still waiting for our presence, but that's still not going to be possible until a little later in the day. Zeke and Clary, I'm counting on you to meet them at one of our bases to see if they will tell you anything before we all arrive. Louis, I need you to get Tamron and his family somewhere safe. You'll be able to get there before Margo and company do. Humans or not, it wouldn't be wise for them to see Henry injured or anyone else.
