Chapter: Sixty-One
It was time for Niles to leave, and I didn't want him to go. After spending time together, we were headed back to the dorms. He'd done his best to keep the mood light and worry me, but I was, anyway. I knew he was as well and maybe he was trying to help himself as much as me. I complained to him about feeling alone because I wanted him with me and that was true.
Well, of course, you'll have your dorm mates with you tonight and I assume they're boyfriends as well. Lily also promised me she'd pay you a visit. Something tells me there may be some other people to see you as well. So we better get a move on."
"Now I don't know if I want to walk back."
"I could carry you. I rather enjoy that," he chuckled.
"Maybe you do, but I would rather not be stared at." I chuckled, holding him tightly as we made the walk back to the car.
Personally, I still felt like I'd break his back even if he had super angel strength. Aside from that, I didn't want our time together to end any quicker than it had to. I knew he'd come back to me soon, but I hated being apart from him. It wasn't fair when I knew he was out here doing something he utterly hated and I didn't like either. Besides, when he was gone, my feelings for Liam seemed even more confusing. I kept him talking the entire way back just to hear his voice.
When we entered my dorm room, I found exactly what he was talking about. Megan was asleep on her bed in Henry's arms. I supposed being pregnant would have to be hard work and make you sleepy. Sadly, this was something I should have known. Jay and Mattie were on her bed while Tamron, Max, Aubrey, Lily, and Louis sat on my floor. Something told me Niles had planned all this to make me feel better. Something also told me he'd planned it, so Liam, Zeke, and Clary wouldn't be there. Not that they'd want to, but then where were they?
"Told you. You're in good hands," he smiled at me.
Be careful and come back to me soon."
"Promise," he smiled, kissing me, and once more I never wanted to let him go.
"Geez, sis, he's He's just visiting family," Jay chuckled.
How I wished that was all he was doing. I wouldn't have minded being apart from him if that were the case. I hugged him tighter, willing him to never let go, but of course, he did. It took everything in me not to hold him and beg him not to leave me. Knowing what he was being forced to do pierced my heart once more. My eyes burned with tears and I swallowed a lump in my throat. I kept my head buried in his chest so I could hide my tears from everyone else.
"Don't cry," I'll be back," he whispered.
"I don't want you to leave," I admitted once more, as though it made a difference.
"I don't want to leave either. Especially not leaving you, but I will be back. I promised."
"I believe you. It's just so hard."
