Chapter: Fifty-Four
"Milady."
I chuckled, taking his hand and allowing him to help me out of the car. Once I was out of the car, he swung the door closed and hurried to the back of the car. I shook my head, biting my lip. Yep, he was most definitely excited. This made me even more excited as well. He popped the trunk and headed to fetch something from it. Well, this was going to be interesting.
"There's not a dead body in there, right?" I joked.
He peeked over the hood at me, giving me a mischievous grin. "Not today." He assured, peeking his head back behind the hood.
I let out a giggle at his cuteness. At least I hoped he was being cute and not serious. He fetched whatever it was he was getting out of the trunk and slammed it shut. He walked back over to me with his hand behind his back. I arched an eyebrow at him in interest.
"So, I can understand you somehow making an ice rink, well, sort of. But I don't have skates and we're not dressed for the cold." I chimed in, eyeing him suspiciously.
The grin on his face widened. "I've thought of that. So behold!" He exclaimed in a silly manner.
He pulled out a box wrapped in aqua-blue colored paper and handed it to me.
My eyes widened. "What's this?" I asked as I took the box in my hands.
"A gift. Now, open it," He chuckled.
Rolling my eyes good-naturedly, I unwrapped the present to reveal a pair of white skates. A gasp escaped my lips as I lifted one of them from the box. The tissue paper making a crunching noise as I did so. The skates were pearl white with aqua blue padding on the inside, along with the bottom lining of the skates. Also, on the side of it, in black ink, was the infinity symbol with a date written in it, along with our initials.
I looked up at him in astonishment. "These are beautiful, Niles. Thank you!" I exclaimed with emotion-filled eyes.
I placed the box down on the top of the car and reached out to hug him. He wrapped his arms around me tightly as a smile took over my lips. I pulled away slightly to meet his warm eyes. "What does the date engraved in them symbolize?" I asked, looking over at the box.
He smiled warmly at me. "It was the first day we met." He explained.
Realization dawned on me. I looked up at him once more with admiration written clearly in my eyes. "Frist day of school in English class. Louis and Max were fussing over how she didn't like being called Maxie and he didn't like being called Loui. You introduced yourself to me." I smiled, remembering the day clearly.
He nodded, "Yeah, I thought you were beautiful even before I realized who you were," He admitted, leaning down to place a kiss on my forehead.
A blush lifted to my cheeks, and I bit my lip. "I love you, Niles." I expressed, hugging him tightly.
