Chapter: Ninety-Four

I walked up the stairs and just happened to catch the sound of giggling and light conversation by Jay and Mattie in her room before they got quiet and I realized just what they were doing. Despite the gross thoughts that entered my head, I couldn't help but smile a little as I went to my own room. I opened the door and nearly screamed but relaxed, seeing it was Nial sitting on the edge of my bed with a light smirk present on his beautiful face.

"What are you doing? I thought you weren't staying."

"I changed my mind."

"Really?" I questioned, going over to stand in front of him

"No, actually, I had something to give you."

"What?"

"A Christmas gift," he smiled.

"I thought you already gave it to me," I said curiously, resting my arms around his neck.

"What, you didn't think I was really going to get my girlfriend a free oil change, did you? Though of course, you can have that too." He grinned at me, then took something from his pocket.

I pulled away slightly as he held out the little box to me and my eyes furrowed. Looking back at him, he was smiling at my reaction. "Relax, it's not a ring." He chuckled.

I shook my head, "I didn't think—"

"Baby, open it." He smiled, cutting me off, and I could tell he was excited.

So I did as I was told and took the box from his hands, opening it to see a plain silver necklace. It was beautiful, but there wasn't a charm or anything on it. Just the necklace. He reached out, taking it from the box, and held it in his hand.

"Niles, what—"

My words caught in my throat as I watched in awe at the chain resting in his hand. What was once a plan sliver chain now had a beautifully crafted ice symbol, and a smile crossed my face as I realized it was my zodiac sign: Aquarius.

I gasped at how beautiful it was and I reached out, touching its smooth texture and I was in awe at how, despite it being made of ice, it wasn't cold to the touch. In fact, it felt warm. A good kind of warmth.

"This is your Christmas gift. Your real Christmas gift. I didn't want to give it to you until later. I thought it would make it more special," he said, placing it in my palm.

"You mean you were trying to trick me into thinking you hadn't gotten me anything?" I teased.

"Perhaps, but it was all just to see the smile on your face right now. It was all worth it."

"You mean to see my smiling face instead of me glaring and yelling at you?"

"I don't think you would have yelled."
