Chapter Seventeen
My eyes widened as I turned around, hoping beyond hope she was kidding. Nope, she wasn't. Liam was looking at me with a smirk of amusement. I'd just insulted him and he'd killed someone. I knew that was a very dangerous thing to do. He stepped forward, and I struggled to not take a step away from him. I needed to stand my ground, even if it was terrifying. Would Megan back me up?
"So, love, you think I'm the most arrogant prick you have ever met in your life? That I'm an asshole? You had a lot of strong words to say about me when you thought I wasn't around." He spoke.
"I—"
"Understand this, Britt. Because I'm tired, we will pick up this conversation later and we have many more things to discuss. As for what you said, I am an arrogant prick. I'm an asshole because I know I'm good at what I do. Nothing in this world can touch me. I do like to cause others pain occasionally, but saying I get off on it is a little much. A lot of what you said seems a little much. I think the world owes me something? No, it doesn't owe me anything. It never gave me anything. I had to take everything I have even from Victor. You can't stand looking at me? Not the first time I've heard that. Unfortunately for you, I don't ever tire of looking at you." He smirked, turning.
He walked away, and I watched after him, not enjoying the conversation that was about to come.
"You're lucky he was tired or you would've paid for that," Clary said, walking away too. This girl was trying to get me killed.
"Let's go to class," Megan sighed.
"That girl hates me."
"No, she doesn't. She enjoys getting to torture you. She acts like that with many people, especially you."
"I've noticed."
"Don't worry about Liam. Hopefully, he's not that mad. He's easier on girls most of the time," she tried to smile.
"Apparently not everyone is. Did you hear anything about Candy today?"
"No, not from anyone," she answered honestly, a frown overtaking her features.
"Have you seen Max today?"
"No, I haven't but I'm sure she's fine."

I gathered my things and exited the music room. Liam, Niles, and Louis weren't in there and that gave me a moment to relax, but it was short-lived as I turned a corner, bumping into Liam. My eyes widened in pure fear as I stared up into those dark, dangerous eyes. He had a menacing smirk playing on his sinfully beautiful face. His eyes, lips, hair, tattoos, body, touch, and attitude were all a sinful façade. It was all a godly camouflage so he could slither his way into you, then strike when he was right under your nose, like the evil snake he was. Was he the devil himself?
Even the devil has to answer to God.
"Hello, love." He spoke. "Surprised to see me? Or were you hoping for someone else? Maybe Niles? I'm sure you'd love to know where he and Louis are right now, wouldn't you?"
