Chapter: Ninety-One
"They shouldn't be here."
"Who?"
"Members of the Lazuli and Tios Locos have decided to join us," he said darkly. I turned around confirming they were all here looking like any other wedding guest if you didn't know any better. Liam put his arm around my shoulder.
"Where's Aubrey?" I asked immediately.
"With Max and Tamron. I had them take her and Abel away, just in case. They'll take them to Greg and Susan and your mum."
"What do they want? They wouldn-
"No, not in public, and we're supposed to be agreeing to peace," Niles appeared beside me.
"You're right," Liam confirmed.
"Why don't we find out why there here and not draw attention to ourselves."
"Good plan."
"Stay here," Niles said to me as he began walking toward them.
At first, I was willing to listen for once and do just that. My eyes were trying to be everywhere at once. I didn't know who I was most afraid of at this point.I craned my neck to look around for Jay and Mattie, but didn't see them anywhere. Were they with Mom and Susan or where?
I was aware of Louis and Zeke as they appeared through the crowd of unsuspecting wedding guests. Lily was there with Zeke, a frown deep on her face as she grabbed him, but he turned, seeming to assure her everything was fine before he continued on his way. However, she didn't listen and continued after them, anyway. I couldn't just stand by as curiosity got the better of me.
I stepped forward in an immediate attempt to join them. I was aware of Jay, Mattie, as well as Max, and Tamron returning to the scene, but they all stood nearby, not taking any steps forward from a few yards away. By the time I reached them, Niles quickly pushed me behind him.
"Stab behind me, just in case," he instructed.
"Zeke," Lily hadn't even had time to finish before he'd pulled her behind him with a stern warning she needed to leave.
Henry and Megan were just beside us, and Clary was the last one to join us just as the others arrived. Somehow, everyone else around us remained oblivious. I took a minute to admire Margo's beauty. Black dress that matched her skin tone and hugged her curves perfectly. Everyone else was dressed in tuxedos and, wow, did they look handsome. Ty eyed Lily and then shot daggers at Zeke. Marcus grinned a large smile and winked in my direction, making me grimace.
"To what do we owe this wonderful visit?" Liam spoke casually.
"We heard there was a wedding and their really important moments. I do love weddings," Margo smirked.
"Victor invited us. We received personal invitations, and we wanted to be here to deliver our congratulations personally as a gesture of goodwill," Enrique explained.
