Chapter: Forty-Three
Megan's outburst stunned everyone into silence. Her lips quivered and tears cascaded down her cheeks and no one seemed to know what to do for a moment. I looked at Louis, then Henry. It was clear to me what was going on. Apparently, her hormones were already getting out of hand. Henry immediately tried to comfort her, but she held out her hand, stopping him as she wiped her eyes.
"Are you alright?" Niles asked in concern.
"Stop fighting. Please, just stop fighting. I can't take it today."
"You're crying because of that? We always fight. I knew you got emotional about your hair, but I thought that was just under those particular circumstances," Zeke commented.
"First my hair and now this. You have got to be the biggest jerk I've ever met!" she snapped.
"Have you met your father?" he shot back.
"Just leave her alone," Henry interjected.
"What's wrong with her? Henry, what's wrong?" Liam asked.
"It's nothing. She's just emotional," he said quickly.
"No, something else is going on here. You don't just act like that without a reason," Clary trailed off and suddenly everyone else's eyes widened and they were all deathly quiet.
"Henry," Niles said as Liam took a step forward as he and everyone else looked from Henry to Megan to her stomach.
"Are you pregnant?" Niles asked after a moment.
"I-yeah," she admitted.
"Unbelievable," Clary scoffed.
"You know, we have no idea how her powers are supposed to work with a pregnancy. We don't know anything about it," Liam said in anger.
"I did fine the other day. We didn't mean to," Megan tried.
"You didn't mean to," Liam chuckled bitterly.
"I understand everyone's concerns, but we- "
Henry didn't finish as Liam punched him in the face." No, stop it!" Megan cried as she rushed to her boyfriend's side, putting her hand against his face, but he put his hand over hers.
"Its alright love don't waste your powers, I'm fine," he promised.
"Let me. I can do it," she insisted, putting her hand to his cheek.
"Liam, that was uncalled for," Niles said.
"I don't care."
"Liam, do we really want to do this right now, or at all? I don't want to have to fight my brother over his anger at something that can't be undone now. I know you have other reasons for being angry, but not. My girlfriend is pregnant and I don't need her to be any more upset than she already is," Henry sighed.
