Chapter: Fifty-Nine
War.
I didn't like that word. I knew what war meant, although I'd only experienced it myself. At least in this lifetime, but I knew what they were discussing was much worse. This war meant destruction and death, things I didn't want to happen. No one should die, no matter how horrible they were. Aside from that, I didn't want my friends killing anyone. I didn't want Liam or Niles killing anyone.
Any type of war is wrong and innocent people can get caught in the crossfire." Henry frowned.
"Don't be such a pacifist, Henry. We know the final battle of Armageddon will be war," Zeke responded.
"That doesn't mean we have to make other unnecessary wars." He responded.
"I agree with Henry. This needs to be avoided if we can," Niles spoke once more.
"Believe me, id love, to avoid it, but we likely won't have the choice for that," Liam muttered.
"We don't have to kill anyone," Niles insisted.
"If a war takes place, then yes, we do. Because they will kill us and not think twice about it. You want them to try to kill Megan? Or Britt?" Liam boomed.
"Do we really want to have more blood on our hands than we already have?" Louis questioned.
"Nothing we can do to change that. If it bothers you, ask for forgiveness," Liam said sarcastically.
"I think you're making a brave decision to want to make peace," I voiced aloud.
"If we can make peace with them, no one would die."
I could tell neither Niles nor Henry wanted a war to happen. They didn't want anyone to die, and I agreed wholeheartedly. What would be so wrong in making peace with them? As angels, they could get them to agree without anyone dying.
"Have you forgotten what we are? We aren't the good guys anymore. We're not God's followers or his instruments. We are right under Victor's thumb as his puppets doing what he wants us to do," Clary hissed. "Liam, this is why you don't spare people and you should never listen to her."
He gazed over at her. "Clary, I decided to spare him of my own accord, but this won't happen again." He promised, turning to meet my gaze again.
I averted my gaze, as his stare was too intense. "I agree with Britt. Why kill when you don't have to?" Max questioned.
"Something a human would say when she has no idea what we do," Clary complained.
"I don't want to know," Max shot back.
"Henry and I are about to welcome a new life into this world so we can't be so needlessly taking life out of it," Megan spoke.
"We can if it's pathetic life that endangers us," Zeke argued.
