Chapter Eleven

With the tough time I'd been having lately, I was both relieved and amused as I had entered Marksans for my first day of training. Greg and Tamron had closed the shop so I could train in an empty shop free of pressure. Tam explained Niles had spoken to him about my anxiety, which he'd already picked up on as well as had Henry, apparently. So they opted to train me without people first. I appreciated it and just hoped I'd be able to do it when customers were present.

"You're a natural. You should be a barista," Tamron grinned.

"I don't know about that. I didn't know there were so many ways to make coffee."

"Dad got really into this stuff and I just followed suit. It's a pretty cool job."

"It smells nice."

"One of the best things about being on the job. Beat's fast food, right?" he chuckled.

"Yeah, I think so. Listen, thank you for doing this for me. I know not just anyone would go this far when I was the one who begged you for a job. I guess Niles and Henry had something to do with it?"

"And Liam."

"Liam too," I frowned.

"Well, let me back up. Once again, Liam mentioned you might want a job, but he didn't ask me to give you one. Niles and Henry didn't say anything to me until after you got the job. I saw you were determined, and so did my dad. That's why he hired you. By the way, no one asked me to do this either. They just mentioned they knew you'd be nervous, which I realized. So I asked dad if we could do this and he said yes. Believe me, he wouldn't have if he didn't have faith in you."

"Really? You sure he didn't just feel sorry for me?"

"Family means a lot to us. I could tell just how much you love your family and how much you want to better yourself. Neither of us could have said no at that point. But I have a little test for you to prove yourself," he grinned.

"What's that?"

A knock sounded on the door and I looked to see a smiling Louis, Max, and Lily. Tamron walked over, letting them inside. "Say hello to your first customers, Britt."

"Hello," I waved.

"No need to play around, love. I know you want my money." Louis waved a dollar bill in the air.

"Um..."

"He's just giving you a hard time." Max rolled her eyes.

"That's just like him," Lily added.

"Which is actually an excellent lesson for you. Most of them are nice, but we have some grumpy customers," Tamron said.

"Which I am not," Louis said.

"He's just the annoying customer," Lily smiled.

"Come on, Lily, you know you love me," Louis poked her.
