Chapter: Sixty-Two
"Way to kill the moment, Zach," Louis muttered.
My eyes widened, and Zeke's eyes snapped over to Louis. If looks could kill...
"Do you have a death wish?!" Zeke growled.
Louis seemed bored. "You'll have to hop in line, mate. I think Liam's in front of ya in that regard." He spoke dully.
I frowned, peering over at him.
"And I wonder why? You keep important information from him and to make matters worse, you go and do stuff like this, right in the open, too. It's like you're asking for him to murder you!" Zeke spat, waving his hand at us in disgust.
I arched an eyebrow. "What are you talking about, Zeke? We were just talking."
He narrowed his eyes at me. "Talking, right. And I bet you'll say you two cuddling together is just you two being friendly?" He asked in disgust.
I frowned, "Yes, of course!" I claimed.
He scoffed.
"Zeke, think what you will, but it doesn't much matter to me what you think. Britt was upset, and I was comforting her. Simple as that," Louis said, standing up from the bench.
He offered me his hand, and I took it after a moment. After I was on my feet, he let my hand go and I stood beside him as Zeke continued to glare at us.
"You don't need to touch her in order to comfort her, Louis! Liam, and for that matter, Niles, could kill you for acting like this. You need to watch yourself, mate." he frowned, and I thought I saw concern flash through his dark eyes.
Boldly, Louis wrapped his arm around my shoulders once more. A smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Don't worry, Zachie! It's nothing I haven't felt with before." He mused.
I fought back a smile. Leave it to Louis to be charming and daring all at once. Surely Liam and Niles weren't the only two who's tried to kill him in the past. I'm almost certain Zeke has too, if not Clary as well.
Zeke's eyes blazed in anger, but he could never beat Liam in that regard. "Whatever, Louis. Just make sure you don't let her get hurt any more than she already has. Lord knows I don't want those two on my ass any more than they already are." He grumbled, rolling his eyes.
Louis nodded, "Wouldn't dream of it, lad." He smiled his usual carefree attitude back once more. "Now, go get Lily. She's waiting in Britt's room for you." He grinned.
"Yes, now that is one woman you don't keep waiting." He chuckled to himself, and I found myself smiling.
"Lily's always so sweet. I can't imagine her ever getting upset. Though I've seen upset before." I mused.
He met my eyes. "Don't let her calm demeanor fool you. That girl of mine is a firecracker once you've upset her. Way worse than Clary, if you ask me." He explained, with a sort of proudness in his eyes.
