Chapter: Forty-Seven

My ride home on the plane was a little better than the ride there. I had ended up sitting with Megan and Max while Henry and Louis were behind us. Unfortunately, poor Tamron was once more stuck with Niles and Liam. Poor Max tried to comfort me and herself while worrying about Tamron. Henry, being able to sense our discomfort, suggested he and Louis talk to us.

"This is terrifying." Max gripped my hand.

"You're telling me," I agreed.

"Everything's fine, don't worry. I'd rather face this than my dad again," Megan said, resting her hand on her belly.

"He didn't seem that bad," I offered.

"You didn't get to have a long conversation with him. My mom is nice, but she doesn't go against him ever. It's his way or no way. It's always been like that," she said in dismay.

"Parents aren't all their cracked up to be," Max mused.

"You ladies are so depressing," Louis said.

"You're also very anxious about this plane ride. It's fine," Henry said.

"Yeah, well, I also have a new boyfriend to worry about," Max grimaced.

"Can you make sure Tam is okay back there?" I questioned.

"He's fine, though he looks like he could be a little sick back there," Henry reported.

"I really hope he doesn't puke on the plane," Max frowned.

"Ew, he just did. Right on Niles too."

"Really?" I asked, looking at Louis.

"Again?" Max gasped.

"Oh yes. Lucky for him it was just Niles he blew chunks all over instead of Liam."

"That's gross," Megan complained.

"He's apologizing now and the attendant just brought over a towel," Henry reported.

"I can not wait till we're off this plane," Max sighed.

"Me either," I agreed.

"Take a nap," Louis suggested.

"Yeah, so I don't know if I die or not."

"I think you'll know."

Mercifully, we finally made it to the airport, and I was never happier to be in California than I was right now. Even though I still wanted to be back in North Carolina with them, I was thankful to be on the ground once more. When we arrived back at the dorms, Niles got a call from Victor and the look on his face and tone of his voice told me he didn't like what was being said.

"Britt," he said when he hung up, stopping us in the hallway.

"Yeah?"

"Victor wants to see you about something."
