"Hey dad, how did you and mom meet?"

A simple question, a not so simple answer.

Marin had been busy finishing up his latest taxidermy project when his 5 year old son came up to him and tugged on his coat. "Hey dad?" Marin looked at him. "Yea?" "I have a question." the tiny lagomorph answered. "And that is?" Max smiled. "How did you meet mama?" Marin froze, almost dropping his needle. "Uh, it's a long story. Go sit on the couch and I'll tell you once I finish." "Okay daddy!" He went to sit on the couch. Marin sighed. "Should I tell him the truth...?" he mumbled to himself. Daniela walked in. "hi devilbun!" she said. He noticed he looked stressed, walking over and putting a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, what's wrong?" He looks at her, putting his hand on hers. "Max finally asked the question.. He wants to know how we met." Dani gasped. "Oh..." she looks down. Marin holds her hand gently. "I think it's time we told him..." Dani slowly nodded. "Okay..."

A few minutes later, Max was sitting on the couch, swinging his legs. Marin came in, sitting next to him, followed by Daniela, who stood by the couch. "Max?" Max looks over. "Yeah?" Marin looked at Dani. "There's something... big we've been meaning to tell you..." Max tilts his head. "What is it?" Marin smiles reassuringly at Daniela, who looks Max in the eye, taking a deep breath.

"I'm not from earth."

Max's eyes go wide. "w-what...?" Daniela looked nervous. "I-i am an alien... I'm from halfway across the galaxy..." Max looks down, taking in this information. He then looks back up at his mom. "B-but if you're an alien, how did you guys meet?" Max asks. Marin smiled. "Well, it all started in high school. One night, I was standing out on the balcony of my old home, when a bright light fell out of the sky, landing near the high school." he giggled. "I didn't think much of it when I first saw it, but the next day in school, there was a new student." he looks at Daniela, smiling. "And she was the prettiest girl I'd ever seen." Daniela smiles and blushes. "Aw you." Max was processing the information. "Wait, so, the light... it was..." he looks at Dani. "You?" Dani nods. "Yes..." she sits next to max. "I had recently escaped my home planet, but," she nervously giggled. "I didn't really know how to fly a spaceship, and ended up crash landing on earth." she smiled. "When I came to, I realized I was stranded, and would have to live here for a while until I could escape. So I looked into getting into school here, thinking it would help me learn the culture of earth and act more like an earthling.'' She looks to Marin. "But once I met him, he helped me learn everything I needed, and" she smiled. "Eventually I grew so close to him that I didn't even want to leave earth." Marin nods. "Yeah... so, after we got out of high school, we got married and had you, and things have been awesome ever since."

Max's eyes were aglow with wonder. "Wait, so, basically, mom is an alien?" Marin and Dani nod. Max gasps. "That is so COOL!" he jumps up off the couch. "I'm gonna go tell Sammy right now!" Max runs away, excited. Marin sighs, looking back to Daniela. "Are you sure we should have told him? I mean... he's probably gonna tell more people than just Sam..." he said. Daniela scooted closer to him and giggled. "Do you really think anyone but Sam will believe him?" Marin thought about it, then smiled, putting his arm around her. "Good point."
