Ah, the straight and narrow midsummer block party. A lovely event where all the colorful characters on the intersection get together, dance, sing, talk, and just have a good time.

The party was that night, and Sam was busy type-type-typing away at his typewriter. He was writing gobbledygook, because he was nervous. See, he wanted to ask Max, his partner in crime and in solving crime, to go with him to the festival as his date. They'd been bffs ever since Max came out the womb only 2 or 3 years after Sam did, and Sam thought, maybe this could be an opportunity to take it up a level, Just a little bit. But, he knew Max wasn't really big into traditional romance, and would probably scoff at the idea of them dating.

That, and there were a few guys Max had his beady brown eyes on lately, and Sam was pretty sure he wanted to ask one of them to be his date...

So yeah, Sam was currently just a big ball of anxiety and stress.(though to be honest who isn't?)

"Okay Sam, can you stop that meaningless typing?" a shrill, nasally voice cut through Sam's worry-bubble. "I know you claim it helps you relax, but that click-clacking is driving me bananas!"

Sam looks up from his desk. "H-huh? Oh, sorry..." he scoots back from his chair. Max walks over. "Although, you have been typing a lot...." he looks Sam in the eye. "Something on your mind?" Sam looks away. "Y-yeah, actually..." Max smiles. "Well, let's hear it!" Sam shakes his head. "You'll just laugh at me..." "no I won't sam., just tell me!" Sam sighs, taking in a breath.

"Well... there's someone that I.. Wanna ask out to the block party, and I'm kinda nervous," Max smiles. "Oooh, who's the lady?" Sam blushes a bit. "Well... it's not exactly a lady..." Max nods. "Ah, I see. Well then, who's the lucky guy?'' Sam blushes more. "Uh... well.. He's someone that's shorter than me... and his voice is kinda annoying.."

Max thinks a bit, then cringes. "You wanna ask out one of the soda poppers..?" Sam's eyes go wide. "Eww, no!" Max sighs in relief. "Thank god." he keeps thinking. "Well what other short guys with annoying voices are there?" Sam smiles a little. "Well, there are plenty." he giggles. "Might even be one in this room." Max tilts his head. "Sam, the only short guy in here is me-"

He then realized what Sam was getting at.

"W-wait... do you wanna ask ME to the block party..?" Max asks, blushing. Sam closes his eyes, nodding. "Max, W-would you wanna go with me, as my date..?" he asks nervously.

"Sure!" max answers happily.

Sam opens his eyes. "W-wait.. Really..?" Max nods. "Yeah! I was planning on going with you anyway." he climbs up onto Sam's lap. Sam looks at him. "Really? You... weren't planning on asking anyone else..?" Max tilts his head. "Why would I go with anyone else?" Sam looks away. "Because... you were interested in them..?" max giggles. "I'm more interested in you." he says, booping his nose. Sam blushes. "Y-you are?" Max tilts his head. "Wait, you didn't know..?" Sam shakes his head. Max giggles. "Why d'ya think I flirt with you nonstop?" Sam shakily laughs. "I always thought you were teasing me..." Max giggles and nose nuzzles him. "You're so dumb.. But that's why I like you." Sam smiles, "aw."

Sam then looks out the window. "Hey, it's night time!" He looks back at max. "And we have a block party to go to!" max giggles and hops off. "Well come on then loverboy!" He holds a hand out to Sam who takes it. Max then leads them out, and they go off to enjoy the night together.
