Another day on straight street. The dust on the old road was kicked up as cars occasionally drove across it, leaving it mere inches from where it used to be. The dust marked the corners of straight and narrow, where many kids used to play.

Sam was sitting at his desk in the office, working on a crossword puzzle in the newspaper. "Hmm... a 9 letter word for marriage?" he thinks for a minute, then realizes. "Aha!" he smiles, writing "matrimony" in the boxes.

He'd been doing this for the past 40 minutes or so while Max was taking a nap. It was a relaxing day, no cases to work on, no criminals to chase, just a nice day off.

After Sam had gotten about half the puzzle done, he heard a soft sigh come from the doorway.

He looked up to see Max admiring him, with his pretty smile and his eyes full of love. He still looked kinda tired, but not in a bad way.

"Hey there bud, you have a nice nap?" Max nods, slowly walking over to him, crawling up onto the chair and settling on Sam's back, closing his eyes and sighing gently. Sam smiles, then goes back to his crossword puzzle.

"Let's die together, sam." Max whispers, rubbing Sam's muzzle gently. "In a minute, little buddy." sam says as he writes the word "eternal" in the boxes for "something that lasts forever"

"Okay~" Max says, nuzzling the back of Sam's neck.

Sam smiles as he writes the word "soulmate" for "The person that was made to be with you"

It takes Sam another 20 or so minutes to finish the puzzle, and in that time Max falls back asleep, snoring gently.

Sam smiles, setting the completed newspaper and pencil on the table, then taking Max gently in his arms, cradling him like a baby.

He looked so peaceful. Little ears folded back, little nose twitching, little head nuzzled against sam.

"I love ya, little buddy..." Sam whispered.

"Mmph.... Luyato..." Max replied in his sleep, nuzzling against Sam's chest more.
