The DeSoto drove down an old road in the woods.

"Are we there yet?" Max said as Sam kept driving. "Almost." Sam replied. Max sighed. Sam had promised to take him to a supposedly special place that was, and he quotes, 'very dear to him'. The whole concept made Max roll his eyes, but it would probably make Sam happy, And seeing Sam happy, smiling, or laughing, was the best thing ever to max.

(Although if Sam ever found that out, Max would probably never hear the end of it.)

"Alright, here we are!" Sam said, parking the car. "Where are we?" Max said, standing up and getting out. Sam gets out too. "We gotta walk a bit to get to it." max groans. "Aww Sam, I hate exercise." Sam laughs. "Me too bud, but there are too many trees in the way." he says as he starts walking along the trail. "Can't we just run 'em over?" Max says, following. "I wish, but I don't think we could afford to get sued by the parks and rec committee again." Sam replies. Max sighs and keeps following him.

After a few miles of walking, they finally make it to a clearing. "There it is!" Sam says, smiling and pointing to something. Max looks.

It was an old well made of bricks.

Sam walks over to it. "Here we are!" max follows. "A well?" Sam nods. "I used to come here with granny when i was little all the time!" He puts his hands on it. "It's been so long.." Max looks around it. "Did you get water from it?" Sam laughs and shakes his head.

"It's a WISHING well, silly." max grins. "Really?" Sam nods. "Yeah. me and granny used to toss coins in and whisper wishes to it." max giggles. "That's really cheesy, sam." Sam rolls his eyes. "I know, it was a little silly, but we had fun."

Max looks into the well, down at the water. "Did any of your wishes ever come true?" Sam leans against the well. "Sometimes.. Like when I wished to get a good score on a test at school, or when I wished to get roller skates for my birthday." max giggles. "Wow."

Sam then turns back to him. "So max, do you wanna make a wish?" Max looks up. "Why?" Sam reaches into his pocket and pulls out two coins. "I thought it'd be nice."

Max giggles. "Sure, why not." Sam smiles and hands him a coin. "I'll go first." He holds the coin to his mouth and quietly whispers something before tossing it in.

The coin falls down and makes a small splash.

"What'd you wish for?" Max asks. "To get the DeSoto a fresh coat of paint." Sam answers. Max laughs. "Aw, Sam, that's so lame..." Sam laughed. "Well, I've learned that the wishes that end up coming true are the wishes that are somewhat realistic." Max smiles. "I guess so."

Max looks at his coin and thinks. What could he wish for? To rule the world? To lead an alien army? To have laser knees?

Then he gets an idea, blushing a tiny bit.

He puts the coin near his mouth, and whispers in the tiniest, quietest voice he can,

"I wish Sam liked me as more than just a friend..."

He then flicks the coin into the well, watching it plummet down. It lands in the water with a splish.

He smiles and looks to sam. "You know, I'll admit, that was kinda fun." Sam smiled back. "I told ya." he then looks off to the side. "So, uh... what did you wish for?" Max giggled. "That is none of your damn business." Sam rolls his eyes.

Max then looks to the sky. "Well, if that was all there is to do here, I'm gonna go get back in the car." he says as he starts to walk off. "Okay, I'll be there in a second." Sam replies.

Little did Max know, he had forgotten dogs have very good hearing.

And once Max was gone, Sam smiled and whispered "I already do."
