"And, there we go!" Sam said as he finished adjusting his black bowtie. Looking at himself in the mirror, he looked very dapper. With his fancy suit, hat, and bowtie, he looked like a proper gentleman. "Not bad." he then looked over at max. "Are you ready yet?"
"Almost!" Max was trying to zip up his dress. Sam laughed. "Hold on." He came over and helped Max with the zipper. "Thanks!" Max said with a smile. He was wearing a Geraldine colored dress with a semi-poofy skirt and a darker pink ribbon belt. He also wore a pearl necklace and bracelet, and to complete the look, a flower hair clip that matched the belt. He did a little twirl for sam. "How do I look?" Sam smiled. "You look lovely." Max giggles and holds his face. "Oh stop it you." Sam offers his arm. "Shall we go?" Max nods and takes it. "Lets!"
The two were on a disguise/stealth mission to spy on one of their latest robbery subjects. A local jewelry store had recently been pilfered, and nothing was stolen except the most highly priced diamond ring. A Tiffany & Co. Cushion shaped diamond worth 3 million 200 thousand dollars.
This evening, the suspect in question was going to a very fancy restaurant with his lady friend, and the only way to get in was to make a reservation. So Sam had made one for him and max. They pulled up in the de soto and parked. Sam got out and opened the door for Max, taking Max's hand and helping him get out. "Oh my Sam, such a gentleman." Max said, blushing a little. Sam smiled. "Well, I gotta be for them to believe we're a 'traditional' couple, haha." Max giggled. "Yeah I guess so." he kisses Sam on the cheek. "We're basically the opposite of traditional." Sam blushes and laughs. "That we are little buddy, that we are."
Sam offers his arm and Max takes it. Sam leads him in, going to the reception booth. "Table for parker?" The hostess looks at the guestbook. "Yup, Gotcha right here. Have a seat in the waiting room, you'll be seated in just a bit. Sam nods and takes Max to sit down in the waiting room and whispers in his ear. "Okay max, remember. Keep a low profile, and look for the guy. We don't wanna get kicked out." Max nods. "I'll try my best." he whispers back.
They wait for a little bit, pretending to make Smalltalk, until the hostess walks over to them. "Okay gentlemen, your table is ready." Sam smiles and stands up. Max takes his arm again and Sam leads him as they follow the hostess into the table room.
The light was very dim, and the tables were all lit with a single candle. Sam whispers to Max "now, stay away from the flames." Max nods. The hostess sits them down. "Enjoy your evening." She smiles and walks away.
Once she's gone, Max and Sam look around. Sam spots the guy and grabs Sam's hand. "There he is!" Sam looks and nods. "Yup, that's our guy all right!" Both of them spy on him and his apparent girlfriend. They watched as the two of them chit chatted. They couldn't hear what they were saying, but they could tell they were flirting up a storm.
Eventually, Max had to look away. "Ugh..." he said quietly. Sam looked at him. "Max, you ok?" Max nodded. "Yeah, I just need a minute." he shudders. "I can't handle straight people for very long..'' Sam giggled quietly and gently patted his head. "I understand..." he then looked back at the couple. They were still chit chatting.
He was interrupted by a waitress bringing them glasses of ice and some bottles of wine. "Here you are gentlemen." Sam looks at the bottles. "Wow, this stuff is high quality." she nods. "Alright, what can I get you to eat?" Sam and Max order their food and the waitress walks away.
Sam opens the bottles. "Max, you want red, white, or rosé?" Max looks at the bottles. "Rosé please," Sam nods and fills Max's glass, then fills his own. "Try not to spill." Sam says, setting down the bottle and picking his glass up. Max nods and picks his up. The two clink their glasses together and each have a sip.
They then both look back at the couple. The two were holding hands now, and looking lovingly into each other's eyes. Max then puts his hand in Sam's. "I can't believe they think they're the cuter couple." Sam looks at him, giggling softly. "Are you jealous?" Max looks at him. "What? No! Of course not." Sam strokes the back of Max's hand with his thumb. "I mean, I agree, we're totally cuter, but does that really matter?" Max nods. "Of course!" Sam kisses his hand. "Ok then."
The waitress brought them their food. "Enjoy." Sam smiled and thanked her. She left, and Sam and Max started to eat. "Be careful not to spill, little buddy.." he said as Max tried his best to eat his spaghetti as anti-messily as possible. "I'm trying." Sam glanced over at the couple, who were kissing over the table. Sam almost choked on a breadstick, quickly getting his napkin and wiping his face. "Don't look over there, you'll puke." Max nods and eats another bite of spaghetti.
"You want some of mine?" Max asks. Sam thinks. "Sure." Max nods and gets another bite, feeding it to Sam and being careful not to spill. Sam eats it. "Very nice." max giggles. "I wish we could eat it at the same time~" he winks. Sam blushes and giggles slowly. "Max, if you wanna kiss you're gonna have to walk around the table, you're too small to lean over the table without climbing on it, and I don't want you knocking over the candle and setting fire to this place. We barely have enough to EAT here." Max rolls his eyes. "Fiiine..." he gets off his chair and goes to sit on Sam's lap, planting his lips on his. Sam holds his waist and Max holds his cheek as they kiss gently.
They continue kissing until Sam hears someone gasp. Sam pulls back, looking in the direction. "Aw, man, what's the idea?" max whispers. Sam points, and Max looks.
The guy was on one knee holding a ring that looked an awful lot like a Tiffany cushion ring...
Max gasped. "I knew it!" Sam smiled. "Ready to do our jobs?" Max nodded. "Let's deliver some freelance police style justice!"
The two got up and went over to the table, pulling their guns out of nowhere and pointing them at the guy. "Freeze dirtbag!" The guy and girl look at them, along with everyone else in the room. The guy is so shocked that he drops the ring. "W-what on earth?" the girl said. Sam looks at her. "We're sorry ma'am, but we hate to inform you that your paramour is a thief." he bends down and picks up the ring. "Last night, at 11 pm, this ring was stolen from the jewelry store downtown." Max nods. "And the chump who stole it is right here!" He kicks the guy in the side. the girl lets out a horrified gasp and looks at him. "How could you!? You promised me you would stop stealing!" the guy stands up. "B-but darling I-" she stands up, stomping her foot. "No! I've given you enough chances. We are through!" she starts to cry and storms out. They guy tries to run after her but was quickly handcuffed by Max on a table. Sam gets his phone out and calls the authorities.
As soon as the guy was taken away and his weeping now-ex girlfriend was escorted home, Sam and Max sat back down at their table, and even got their dessert free as thanks for catching the thief. While they were eating their black forest cake, Max says, "Man, Sam, can you believe that guy stole the gaudiest ring ever just to propose?" Sam laughs. "I can since he's a criminal." Max laughs. "Say, that reminds me..." he takes Sam's hand. "When are YOU gonna propose, big guy?" he says with a smirk. Sam giggled softly. "You mean I haven't already?" he replies, pointing out the much less flashy and much less expensive cubic zirconia ring on Max's finger. Max looks at it. "Oh yeah, I forgot." he giggled.
Sam laughs. "You crack me up little buddy."
