Sam smiled and breathed in the scent of the small bouquet of orange lilies. He was hoping to give them to max to celebrate Valentine's day. Even though they both hated the holiday, Sam thought it would be sweet to get Max his favorite flowers for once. He put his arms behind his back and opened the door.
"Happy Valentine's Day max!" he said, looking at the lagomorph who was sitting at his desk. "Ugh, what's so happy about it?" Max replies, looking aggravated. "All this holiday is, is desperate women trying to get a date.." he groans. "At least seven have come up to me and tried to give me flowers..." Sam started to sweat. "R-really?" Max nods. "If one more girl tries to give me flowers, I'm gonna puke!"
Sam felt his stomach drop. "O-oh..." he quickly rips the tag off the flowers behind his back. "Well don't puke on me because these arrived in the mail." he places the flowers on max's desk. "Ugh, not more plant junk..." he looks at them, his eyes widening. "Wait, who are these from?" Sam shrugged. "There was no return address..." max strokes one of the petals. "These are my favorite flowers..." Sam tilts his head. "Really? I didn't know?" he replies, playing dumb. Max smiles. "That was really sweet of whoever sent these." Sam blushes. "Yeah.."
Max looks up at sam. "Any luck getting a girlfriend?" Sam shakes his head. "Apparently I was on the wrong side of the city, because all the girls I talked to were either taken or not interested." Max smirked, then got an idea. "Well, since neither of us have dates, wanna go ruin another couple's dates?" "Haha, sure." Sam responded. "let me go get ready and then we can go have some fun.'' Sam said. Max giggles. "While you do that, I'll put these in a vase." Sam smiled warmly. "Sounds good!" He walks out the door.
As Max went to put the flowers in a vase, he spotted the ripped tag by the trash can. He picks it up, reading it.
"Dear Max, happy Valentine's Day, love sam."
Max blushes, then looks at the flowers, realizing what happened. "Aw sam...." he thinks, then gets an idea, walking out of the office and down the street.
When Sam finished getting ready, he came back to the office. "Alright Max, let's go!" but Max was nowhere to be seen. "Max?" He looks around. "Where are ya little buddy?" Max walks back through the door holding something behind his back. "Here I am!" Sam turns around. "Ah, there you are buddy!" he smiles. Max giggles. "Close your eyes and hold out your hands." Sam tilts his head. "Why?" max giggles. "I have a surprise for you!" Sam covers his eyes and holds out his hand. "Better not be another lit firecracker.." Max puts something in his hand. Sam opens his eyes and sees he is holding a box of Deluxury™ brand chocolate candy sticks.
Sam's eyes sparkled.. Deluxury™ was his favorite chocolate of all time. "Oh my..." he looks to max. "How'd you know?" Max giggled. "I just knew!" Sam smiled. "That's really sweet of you."
Max smiles. "I wanted to thank you for the flowers!" Sam's eyes widened. "F-flowers..?" Max giggles and shows him the tag. Sam goes cold. "...ah..."
Max smiles. "You could've just given them to me." Sam looks away. "I thought you were gonna puke on me." Max laughs. "That was a JOKE, sam. And besides," he holds his hand. "I said if another GIRL gave me flowers." Sam nods. "I see..." Max giggles.
Sam looks at the chocolates. "Well, thank you." he sits down. "Do you wanna share these?" Max shakes his head. "Oh no, Sam, I got them for you!" Sam smiles sweetly. "Aw max, but I wanna share!" max giggles. "Well, if you insist." he hops on the sofa and sits down next to sam. Sam opens the box and eats a candy stick, then gives one to max. The two end up munching on the sticks happily for the next few minutes, until there was only one left.
"Should we split that one?" Sam asks. "Nah, you can have it.". Max replies. Sam smiles.
"Cool." but as soon as sam took it out of the box, max bit one end of it. "Jush jockin!(just joking)" max said. Sam gives him a stern look. "Hey." Max giggles, the stick still in his mouth. Sam, not one to give up easily, bites the other end. Max blushes a little, but keeps nibbling.
The two keep munching on the stick until their lips meet.
They both blush, pulling away and looking away, red-faced.
After a minute or two of awkward silence, Sam slowly puts an arm around him and asks, "So, Maybe instead of ruining other peoples' dates, I could take you on one?" Max nods. "Sure! Sounds like fun!"
And so the two went off to have an uncharacteristically gooey, soft, mushy, romance-filled date on this day of love.
