Sam and max stories

On the right track

It was a normal day at holy smokes junior high.

It was lunch break and Sam was hanging out with his boyfriend as usual. Sam had finished eating and was reading some dollar bin superhero comic and Max was enjoying a cupcake. "Hey Sam," Max asked between bites. "Hmm?" Sam replied, looking up from his comic. Max scratches his neck. "After school, would you... maybe wanna go walk along the train tracks?" Max asked. Sam raises his eyebrow. "Isn't that kinda dangerous?" Max giggled. "Sam, you of all people should know that danger is my middle name!" He pointed a thumb at his chest. Sam snorted. "Your middle name is Rex." Max nodded. "Yeah! Maxwell danger rex Lucen!" he says as he finishes his cupcake, wrapper and all. Sam laughs. "Well, still, I don't think we should be playing on train tracks." Max looks at him, pleading eyes. "Pleeeease? It'll be so romantic!" Sam laughs. "Getting hit by a train is romantic, huh?" Max nods. "Yeah! Almost as romantic as hopping on board a freight train and running away together!" He closes his eyes and sighs. Sam smiles. "I'm guessing you're liking that new novel we're reading in English class so far." Max nodded. "Definitely more interesting than the one about the ghost bear." Sam smiled. Max looked at him with pleading eyes again. "Pleeeease Sammy?" Sam sighs. "Okay, maybe for just a half hour." Max smiles and hugs him. "thank you thank you thank you!" Sam holds him gently. "No problem!"

The lunch bell then rings. Max kisses Sam's cheek and gets up. "Meet me out by the old train station at around 5 okay?" Sam blushes. "Sure thing, doll." max smiles and sprints off to their next class. Sam sighs. At least the evening wouldn't be boring.

Little did Sam know Max had other plans than just walking on the train tracks.

At precisely 5:00 pm. Sam walked out to the old abandoned train station by the edge of town. It hadn't been used in a long while. He looked around, seeing there weren't any trains.

"Sam!" Sam turns his head to Max, who had just arrived. Sam smiled. "Hey, what's up little buddy?" Max smiled back. "Glad you made it." "wouldn't miss it lil buddy."

Max then takes his hand and goes to the train tracks. "A-are you sure you wanna do this?" Sam asks, his voice a little shaky. "Of course!" max hops on one side of the tracks. Sam gulps. "O-okay..." Max encourages him. "Come on, it'll be fine. Just keep holding my hand." Sam slowly steps on the other side, keeping hold. He was a bit wobbly, but maintained his balance. "L-like this..?" Max nods, smiling. "You're doing great!" Sam smiles a bit. "Now just step forward a tiny bit." Sam nods, placing one foot in front of the other. Max does the same.

After a bit, Sam got the hang of it, and the two happily walked a few miles along the track, holding hands all the way. They then decided to take a break, hopping off the track into the ditch beside it.

"You know Max, I had my doubts, but this really did turn out to be kinda romantic." Sam says, smiling at max. Max giggles. "Told you." He takes both of Sam's hands in his. "Actually... Now that we're alone, there's something I wanna do." Sam tilts his head. "Yeah?" Max smiles. "Close your eyes and hold out your hand." Sam complies, a bit nervous. He hears a bit of shuffling then feels something small placed in his hand. "Okay, open!" Sam opens his eyes and looks at the object.

It was a silver metal ring with two gemstones, an aquamarine (his birthstone) and a peridot (max's birthstone). "I wanna promise myself to you." he said as he looked up to sam. "I know, its cheesy and dumb, but i know that you are the one that i want to be with, forever!" Max said, red faced. "I-it's fine if you don't accept it..." he smiles shakily.

After a moment of silence, Sam gives Max the biggest smile he ever has. "Of course I do!" he says, putting the ring on. He then kneels so he's at eye level with max. "That's so sweet of you!" he says as he hugs max. Max giggles and hugs back. "Well good." Sam nuzzles him. "Gosh, I wish I'd gotten one for you..." Max laughs. "Well, it is both our birthstones, so I think both of us are covered." Sam laughs. "You little genius." he pulls back to kiss him softly. Max kisses back, wrapping his arms around Sam's neck.

"I love you so much..." Sam says as he pulls back. "I love you too honey..." Max says.

The two then decided to walk home.
