[Edgar's pov]

Waking up, the headache faded away, and all I could see was Mortis in fear. He barely closed his mouth.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Can't you see, Edgar?" Mortis asked back so I looked around, then I stood up immediately.

"Where's Colette?" I realized Colette wasn't here. Don't tell me she really break out...

"She's in the past." Mortis said. His voice got lower than ever, then he buried his face in his hands, murmuring to himself. "I shouldn't do this....what if she doesn't come back...."

"Hey Mortis, calm down. We could go back to find her, right?" I said hopefully.

"A person could only peak to the same person's past back twice. Once for remembering, and once for living in it. I've done this before. Colette and I were testing it at that time. That means, if Colette is still in the past, Edgar, only you can go." Mortis explained. He still didn't look up, probably from shame.

"Do I need to drink that again?" I asked, hoping it's a no.

"Yes." Mortis said. "But the problem is we don't have Colette's hair. And without a DNA, we- you cannot go back to the past."

Hmm...

"Then let's go." I said, determined.

"Where?" Mortis was filled with confusion.

"We'll fine Emz." I said.

[Colette's pov]

"I'm sorry." I said as I saw Edgar and Mortis faded away from my past. "But I need to find the truth." I take a deep breath, and focus on my mind. Back to my dad's accident, back to my dad's accident, back to my dad's accident...

From what my mother told me, my dad was dead from a car crash. And somehow, the young me accepted the truth better than my mother did. I believed he was just far away, but would come back again. But now...I doubt it. What if my dad didn't die in an accident? What if my mother wasn't murdered? She gave away me. What if what Mortis told me was all a lie?

If it's the realization time for me, I'm ready to face this.

Within a moment, I was transferred, to, probably the last day of my father's life.

He was in a hospital. His eyes were red and his skin was full of dark dots. Mother was sobbing hard at his bed. "Dear, you shouldn't do this...you shouldn't save the patient. It's too late to cure him." She said, her mouth was trembling.

Dad only gave a weak smile. "I thought the virus couldn't hit me, but apparently, I'm wrong. At least he lived for 2 more days. At least he has his family gathered together. It's a doctor's job, eh?" He said. His proud smile never leave his face.

Dad tried his best to keep his eyes open, knowing all too well he wouldn't open them ever again if he closed them right now.

"Tell Colette...I love her so very much. Tell Colette I believe in everything she said. I know she didn't cheat. I know she didn't hurt anyone. I know who she is, and I'm very proud of her. Honey, please promise me you will take care of her..." he said, and held mom's cheek one last time.

"Please...you can't leave us..." Mom's crying got louder, and the line of dad's heartbeat...became a straight line.

My tears threatening to pour out. Dad died from decease. From saving people. He didn't leave us. He loved us so very much.

Dad's voice echoed in my mind.

Now, go to mom's death, mom's death, mom's death...

I'm pretty sure Mortis lied too.
