[Edgar's pov]
I'm not joking when I say time flies. It's literally late May already, what the actual freak? A few weeks had passed since Colette and I almost broke up, and it's another work day today. 23 of May, a Tuesday.
The past weeks had been pretty...normal. Nothing big happened. I would sometimes walk Colette home if we worked overtime again. She would buy me a cup of coffee if there's a discount. Basically, everything went well, despite the fact that the customers could sometimes be shitty. Overall it's still good. Late May, which means Summer is getting closer.
"Ugh...I need to buy a fan or something." I muttered as the alarm clock woke me up clearly, even thought I've woken from the weather already. "It's not even June..."
Logically, Summer starts at June 21, but hell, it's already hot here.
I got up from my bed and cleaned up myself in a few minutes in the bathroom, then had a simple breakfast. After all of that, I grabbed my backpack and left my house.
Walking through the road, I couldn't help but sighed at the fact that Summer had came so early. Global warming...damn. My neck was starting to get sweaty because of the scarf around me. Would I take it off? Of course not. I'm still wearing jeans and it's gonna stick to my legs for the next 10 hours. Awesome.
Well at least the gift shop is way cooler than here. I sighed in relief as I unlocked the door of the gift shop. Mhm, of course Colette hadn't come. I began stocking things and sometimes looked at my phone. Yeah, so funny that the rumors were about Emz getting engaged. I would've been the second one to know since Colette would tell me right away. I continued putting up new drinks and plushies that were matched with the new Brawl Pass.
It's almost 8:00 am...I looked at the clock, 7:57 am. Colette hadn't arrived yet. She hadn't been so late for a while.
After a minute or two, I heard some quick footsteps from the outside. Then the door was slowly opened.
"H-Hi Ed." Colette was still catching her breath as she walked in.
"Uh, hey. You alright?" I asked as she shook her head and put down her bag near the counter. She usually just slams the door and yells...and today...something's off?
"U-uh yeah I'm fine...I just ne-" Colette suddenly stopped as her eyes widened and she looked down a bit. She then looked up to me nervously, "I need to go to the toilet, see ya!" She immediately grabbed her bag again and left the gift shop awkwardly.
Something's wrong...I squinted at the opened door, wondering what could've happened. It's definitely not just getting up late...does she have a nightmare or something? What's on her mind?
Colette came back after around 5 minutes and the customers were in the shop already. Just as usual, I put on the earphone of my right ear and leaned to the counter as I watched the people talking. Colette was walking in a weird way as if some sort of Australia spider was in her clothes or something. She didn't leave the shop either. Instead, she just talked to the customers inside. I guess it's just too hot outside...right?
A few hours passed and it was busier than I expected. I didn't have much time to talk to Colette. It was kind of awkward with the fact that Colette didn't seem really comfortable but I didn't have the time to ask her. Only if I can read minds...
It's 12:00 pm. The customers mostly left the shop to have lunch and I finally got some spare time. Perfect timing. I took a deep breath, "Cole-"
Never mind. Colette immediately left the shop too along with her bag. Damn it.
