[Edgar's pov]
Very uneasily, I made it to the lunchtime.
Leaving the gift shop, I took my lunch box with me and sat on that bench again. Yesterday before I went to bed, I had already made the lunch for today. A few pieces of toast, ham, slice eggs, cheese, cut cucumbers and some sauce. Therefore, I put all of them together and some sandwiches were done.
I made 3 sandwiches and just when I was going to eat the second one, a soft childish voice appeared right at my right ear. "Can I have some, please?"
I flinched as the air tickled my ear. I turned see a little girl with big eyes and a very very, um, not a very friendly smile. She grinned as she saw me noticing her. I guess he's like 5, or 6?
"I'll exchange your sandwich with ice-cream!" She said in a confident and loud voice. Yet she was holding nothing and I didn't see any adult that seemed to take care of her anywhere nearby.
"Where's your mother?" I raised an eyebrow at her.
She nervously gulped and looked around, "Sh-she is buying ice-cream!" Her smile was so fake that I could she's lying.
I rolled my eyes, "You're not getting any food from me, kid."
She pouted dramatically, "But I want some! My mom only makes turkeys and ham and potatoes and all the German and French and Chinese dishes! I want sandwiches!"
Did she just eat up a restaurant or something? Her mother can cook so many dishes???
"Find your mother." I ignored her and began eating my sandwiches, but then a burst of cries came out immediately and I thought my ear was going deaf. "Waaaaa! You're so selfish! Why won't you share food with little kids?" She pointed at me forcefully and even tried to grab my wrist.
"Kid, sharing things is kindness, not a need. And your mother won't be happy if she finds you crying like this." I stated.
"I don't care I don't care I don't care I want YOURS!" the kid pouted and sniffed.
I could hear some mumbling from the passerby. No I don't need to make people like this...sighing, I broke the sandwich into half and handed one of the 2 pieces of the kid. Her expression immediately changed and grinned widely. "That's what you should do, selfish boy!" She stuck out her tongue at me and bounced off the bench, leaving away as she ate the sandwich.
The thing was that when she eat it, she almost threw up, "why is it collllld!" She yelled and frowned at me. I tried my best to control my laughter and shrugged my shoulders. I'm being polite to you already, kiddo. It's the best of me that I didn't send you a middle finger.
Some passerby would frown at me but I didn't really care about that. I mean, is it my problem?
Uh...is it?
Ye- no, right?
It's not my job to share my own lunch...right?
[Flashback.]
I was 4 years old. "Edgar, for the love of God, get the fuck out of the park."
I was 5 years old. "Share your toy, Edgar. Do you want to sleep outside again?"
I was 6 years old. "Why are you so stubborn? Can't you talk?"
I was 7 years old. "Why won't you even take off the scarf? Do you have a kink or something?"
I was 8 years old. "Hahahaha, very funny Edgar. Guys, let's beat the fuck out of him!"
I was 9 years old. "You're such a selfish, not intelligent boy that only cared about yourself!"
