TW: Past Injuries/Scars, mentions of war/the military, slight PSTD/bad memories of tragic events, blood, doubt/negative thoughts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Virgil was finishing up dinner as Roman was in the bathroom getting ready. After taking a shower, he began to notice his past scars and how he received them
Roman was caught in war, fighting for the military for some odd months. He finally got discharged after he was injured by a nasty bullet wound. He was protecting his squadron of soldiers when he was shot, luckily he got healed in time before it became infected.
His Forest Green eyes trailed down to the myriad of scars running along his body, arms, and legs. He then looked at the spot where his bullet wound was, previously located near his heart
Roman then looked in the bathroom mirror, swearing he could see his injured self in the war. Everywhere on his clothes and skin was stained with blood, fresh and old. His uniform was dirty, messy, and ripped. The scars peaked out of the spots that were distressed. The medals Roman was awarded with while in action was prominent and shiny, they were pinned on his uniform rather than being displayed in a frame hung up on the hallways walls
Roman wanted his former self to disappear, but every time he tried, it couldn't go away. Roman then began to think whether or not he was worthy of having the past pain still shown for the world to see. He wondered that his scars were a sign of weakness, that they were there because he was either careless or foolish. Roman then sunk to the tiled floor of the bathroom, starting to cry as his doubt invaded and twisted his mind
Meanwhile, Virgil went to find Roman since dinner was ready. He found a now sobbing Roman instead of a typical confidence usually shown on his face. Virgil slowly went up to his husband, asking what's wrong. Roman immediately got shocked by the sudden arrival of Virgil's voice, attempting to wipe away his tears. Virgil gently reached out for Romans hands, bringing them away from his husbands Forest Green Eyes
¥Virgil¥
Ro...? Why are you crying?
{Roman}
~sniffles~
...I don't like my scars
¥Virgil¥
Why do you dislike them?
{Roman}
...they remind me of pain and everything I was forced to endure back in the war. I want it to stop...but it's stuck with me forever
¥Virgil¥
I think they make you stronger
{Roman}
...why do you say that? I got them because I was careless and foolish
¥Virgil¥
They remind you that you survived, Ro. You were protecting your friends when you got them. You were thinking of me when you got them. You commanded your squadron with intelligent strategy and great leadership, the soldiers looked up to you and trusted your guidance even when you got them. You're so strong, Ro
Roman began to tear up again, immediately pulling Virgil into a hug. Virgil hugged him back as he kept saying that Romans scars make him stronger. They stayed like that until Roman eventually felt better
{Roman}
Thank you Butterfly, I love you. So much
¥Virgil¥
I love you too Ro. So much
