Prinxiety Oneshots 2

-Dog Roman X Kitten Virgil-

It was a fairly rainy day, Thomas was walking to the local pizza place to pick up dinner for himself and his boyfriend Nico

He was almost there when he heard a meowing from an alleyway. Thomas stopped in his tracks and headed down the alley until he found a wet and soggy cardboard box

Inside was an adorable yet very scared black kitten

•Thomas•
Hey little guy, I won't hurt you

He made sounds to get the kitten to him, it worked and Thomas placed the small kitten inside his jacket, unfortunately resorting to unzip part of it to make a space for the frightened black creature

Guess pizza will have to wait, Thomas thought as he walked back to his shared apartment. Opening the door, he was immediately greeted by his rare pure white German Shepherd Roman and Nico

Guess pizza will have to be held off or ordered in, I found this guy in an alley all anxious and soaking wet

His eyes are open, ears are upright, and I'm most definite that he can walk so this guy is around 3-4 weeks or older. I'll get our hairdryer and warm towels

Thomas nods and sits on the couch with the small kitten in his hands after his jacket got taken off. Roman climbed up on the couch and sat next to Thomas

The kitten walked over to Roman, the dog laid down against the couch and protectively had the small guy curled up next to him

Nico walked back downstairs, he put down the items and walked towards the kitten. Mr Flores was about to pick up the kitten when Roman barked at his owner and the scared kitten curled up closer to the German Shepherd

Roman? It's me, Nico. You never bark at me or Thomas

Roman continues to bark and growl which made Nico confused

Thomas tried to pick up the kitten so that he can get dried off but also got barked and growled at

German Shepherds are protective in nature, maybe Roman is doing that with the kitten?

Looks like it, maybe we can let Roman and the kitten take charge? See if they can come here on their own?

We can try, meanwhile I'll order us pizza finally

Nico nods and lays out the towel on the floor, realizing that the hairdryer needs an extension cord since the actual cord is short and can't reach the nearest wall plug. He left to go find said extension cord, Roman knew what was going on so he lead the kitten over to the towel

Pizza got ordered so Thomas went to the living room, seeing the kitten laying on the towel and Roman sitting near it, growling whenever Thomas tried to pet the kitten

Nico returned with the extension cord and began to dry off the kitten, putting the hairdryer on the lowest setting for safety. Roman licked the kitten afterwards so that he isn't a puffball of hair anymore

Pizza got delivered and eaten, Thomas and Nico looked to see if the kitten had anywhere to go but had no luck. A few days later, they decided to foster and eventually adopt the kitten

After many extensive hours of research Thomas and Nico decided on Virgil, named after the Roman poet/Guide and for vigilance

The meaning of the name started to show, Virgil gets scared easily and has signs of severe anxiety. He stares, tries to hide/escape whenever something new is happening, crouches and leans away, and holds his tail closer to his body when nervous

On the poet side, he stashed The Aenead and Dante's Inferno in what Thomas dubbed Virgil's cabinet aka an empty kitchen cabinet that was previously used for holding trash bags and a dustpan. There's an extra pillow that Virgil can sit on if he's hiding in his cabinet which is where he can be found whenever something new happens, most often when people come over to hang out with Thomas and Nico

When not in his cabinet, Virgil can be seen with Roman. The German Shepherd will always be there to protect his kitten from basically everything, except for butterflies because they are friendly and cause no harm

Now it was nighttime and the humans were already asleep, Roman and Virgil are free to do whatever they want downstairs. Unfortunately, it was storming outside which is one of Virgil's triggers because the weather reminded him of his abandonment

Currently Roman was taking a nap on his large dog bed, he could feel a small paw bat at his nose. The German Shepherd opened up his Forest Green eyes and saw Virgil batting at his nose

{Roman}
Hey Virgil, what's going on?

Outside scary, I don't want to be in a cardboard box again

{Roman}
Thomas and Nico wouldn't abandon you, they're nice humans. You wouldn't have me here protecting you like I always do if you were kicked out of the house

Lightning flashes, illuminating the living room a bit. Virgil immediately hides behind Roman, getting anxious

Roman turns around to face Virgil, letting the kitten scramble over to him. The German Shepherd carefully picked up the kitten with his purple collar and turned around, gently plopping down the kitten on the large dog bed once facing forward

The lightning flashes again, making Virgil mew in fear and anxiousness. Roman continued to be gentle with the kitten, trying to calm him down from a trigger

Eventually the storm passed and Virgil fell asleep as rain pattered against the window. Roman fell asleep as well, sure enough that Virgil was alright. Nothing scary disturbed their slumber in the living room on Romans large dog bed

Well early in the morning, around 4 am, Nico couldn't sleep so he went downstairs to jam to Paramore and maybe have a glass of water

He was already bopping to Hard Times which the author highly suggests listening to for any Band People when he saw Roman and Virgil curled up together in the large dog bed. Nico paused his music and snapped a photo before going back upstairs to finish a good nights sleep
