The sun beat down on the Thousand Sunny's deck with the kind of lazy, oppressive intensity that made everything feel slower, heavier, like the world itself had decided to take a break and convinced everyone else to do the same.

The heat shimmered in waves above the polished wood, distorting the air just enough to make the horizon look like it was dancing. You stretched out on your sun bed, feeling the warmth seep into your skin like honey, slow, sweet and all encompassing.

One arm draped across your stomach while the other reached for the cold drink Sanji had brought you not five minutes ago, the glass already sweating in the heat, leaving a dark ring on the deck beside you.

The condensation felt like absolute heaven against your palm as you lifted it, bringing the straw to your lips and taking a long, slow sip. The drink was some kind of tropical concoction, mango, maybe, or papaya, with lime and something else you couldn't quite identify but that made your tongue tingle pleasantly.

Ice clinked against the sides of the glass, already starting to melt despite Sanji's best efforts to keep everything perfectly chilled.

"I'm telling you, the shoes were completely wrong for that outfit" Nami declared from beside you, her voice carrying that particular tone of absolute fashion authority that brooked no argument, the kind of certainty that came from years of cultivating her own impeccable style.

She adjusted her sunglasses, expensive ones, naturally, that she'd acquired through heavy haggling and bargaining, and took a long sip of her own drink. "Like, I understand wanting to make a statement, but there's a difference between bold fashion choices and just... not understanding how clothes work".

You hummed in agreement, tipping your own sunglasses down just enough to peer over the dark lenses at Robin, who sat in the dappled shade of the tangerine trees with a book balanced on her knee.

The archaeologist looked completely serene, unbothered by the heat that had everyone else melting into puddles, her dark hair pulled back from her face in a way that somehow looked effortlessly elegant.

She turned a page with one hand while the other held a cup of what you knew was tea, hot tea, in this weather, because Robin was somehow immune to normal human discomfort when it came to her preferred beverages.

"Robin, back me up here" Nami called over. Robin glanced up, her blue eyes twinkling with amusement, and that small, knowing smile played at her lips, the one that always made you feel like she was in on some cosmic joke the rest of you hadn't quite figured out yet.

"I'm afraid I wasn't paying attention to the fashion disaster in question" she admitted, her voice carrying that warm, cultured quality that made even the most mundane observations sound profound.
