A/N: I swear I never liked this man when I watched one piece. However all the writing I've done for him lately is making me WEAK UGH!

The sea breeze hit your face the moment you stepped off the small Marine transport vessel, bringing with it the briny scent of salt, and seaweed. You paused at the edge of the dock and took a long breath. It had been a while since you'd been stationed somewhere quiet. You could get used to this.

The island wasn't particularly large, but it had the kind of peaceful layout that suggested stability, wide cobbled streets, closely built houses with tiled roofs, markets buzzing softly with early morning chatter. Somewhere further inland, a modest Marine outpost sat nestled against the hill, barely tall enough to rise above the trees.

You adjusted the strap of your sword, letting the familiar weight of the blade settle against your back. It bounced lightly with each step as you walked up the pier, boots clicking against sun warmed planks. A few locals looked over at you, curious but friendly, nodding in recognition of the uniform.

You returned their glances with a polite smile and a slight bow of your head. After all, this wasn't the kind of place where Marines strutted around like they owned the world. Here, the uniform was less a threat and more a promise of order, of safety.

At the base gates, you were met by a Vice Admiral, a thick shouldered, square jawed man who looked like he'd been carved out of stone, though the lines around his eyes softened his expression. He offered his hand as you approached.

"Lieutenant L/N, right?" he asked, giving your name a quick glance on the paper he held. You nodded. "That's me". "Glad to have you here. We don't see many folks with your reputation posted to islands like this".

You raised a brow. "My reputation?". He chuckled and waved it off. "Word travels, even out here. Swordswoman. Quick on her feet. No Devil Fruit powers, no flashy haki. Just skill and guts". He smirked. You blinked. "Thanks?"

After settling into your room, small, clean, well kept, you took a moment to tie up your hair and change into your marine issued exercise clothes. The sun was climbing now, bathing the island in a soft gold glow. It felt like the perfect time to explore.

You started jogging just after breakfast. The main path through the village curved gently downhill, flanked by bakeries, fish stalls, and the scent of fresh bread. You kept your pace steady, sword bouncing at your back, not heavy enough to slow you down, but always there.

A few kids waved at you from the shade of a fruit cart. You smiled and gave them a quick salute as you passed. The scenery opened up the farther you ran. Palm trees swayed overhead, casting dappled shadows on the road, and the coastal wind followed you like an old friend.

You passed stone walls draped in moss, stairways carved into the hills, and one particularly charming cottage with a row of seashells lining the windowsill, and that's when he saw you.
