A/N: I love love love writing multiple characters, like this, giving their reactions to stuff! It's the main reason I started books like these, because they're my favourite thing to read! Kid
The Victoria Punk rocked gently with the waves, a steady rhythm that had long since become background noise to you. The crew had docked at some small island to stock up on supplies and make a few quick repairs.

With most of the crew off drinking or causing trouble, you'd taken the opportunity to slip into one of the workshop spaces below deck.

It was peaceful here, away from the usual chaos. The scent of oil and metal filled the air, and the dim lighting cast a warm glow over the scattered tools and half finished projects littering the workbench.

You had your latest tinkering project spread out in front of you, a half upgraded piece of machinery that you'd been meaning to modify for a while. Your fingers moved with practiced ease, tightening bolts and making adjustments, completely immersed in your work.

Somewhere along the way, the quiet got to you. It started as a hum, low and thoughtless, following a tune that had been a staple of your childhood. Your voice came next, soft at first, barely above a whisper as you worked.

The singing wasn't anything special, just something for you, to block the silence, your hands were busy, and your mind was elsewhere, and right now, your mind was far from the possibility of an audience.

You weren't the type to do this around the crew. Not because you were shy, far from it, but because singing wasn't something you ever really thought to do in front of them.

It wasn't you, not in the way the others knew you. You were a fighter, a mechanic, someone who could hold her own in a scrap. Singing just felt... out of place, but here, alone, it felt natural.

The melody wove through the air, mixing with the soft clinking of tools as you worked. You didn't notice the heavy boots approaching, didn't hear the quiet creak of the door, didn't feel the presence looming nearby, but he noticed you.

Kid had only wandered in out of habit, looking for something, fine, maybe for you without really thinking about it, but the moment he stepped in, he went still.

His first instinct was to make his presence known, to stomp in loud and unapologetic like always, but everything about the scene in front of him made him pause.

You, hunched over your work, completely lost in it, voice slipping out without a second thought. He'd never seen you like this before. It was weird. Not bad weird. Just... unexpected.

He was used to the way you worked, sharp, focused, always with a slight furrow in your brow when you were deep in thought. He was used to your confidence, your sharp tongue, the way you never backed down from anyone, especially not him.
